My uncles were dairy farmers in Minnesota and Washington State. Another uncle worked at creamery and my father was a ice cream maker. I grew up believing that dairy was one of the building blocks of good nutrition and cow's milk was a very important food. In 2000, I was maybe forty pounds overweight and had quadruple bypass surgery. I asked my doctor if there was any way to get the plaque out of my arteries.
