This book, well, sounds cheesy, but it's like a bible to me.
I wasn't even born when it was written, or when it was published, or when it was republished for that matter, but it is a delicate and mind-blowing blend of the spiritual and musical-genius of Michael that anyone of any age can appreciate. He was such a gentle person, and reading this, the delicate words seem to just lift off the page and calm me... Though it was written before all the problems, when all his money was in the

Wonderful book! I savored every moment, and wish it was much longer, more detailed, and at least as thick as some of the BIOgraphies about him. It's one of the few books I actually felt stress about reading and understanding each and every word that was written - partly because of how much I paid to get my hands on this rare gem, and partly because it's one of the very few first-hand resources on Michael Jackson. Almost everything else is tainted by the perspective of someone who is writing ...more

Unfortunately, the worst kind of 'autobiography' - one that ultimately tells us nothing and delivers very little at all.

I enjoyed reading Michael's words about his life up until 1985, which is where the book ended. I didn't want it to end, I wanted to read more about his life after that, but unfortunately, he did not write another book. Moonwalk describes his early life and his feelings of insecurity on a personal level and told of his father's heavy-handed discipline. He talked about not being able to have friends his own age unless they were in show business because all the other people he met, treated him like ...more

Well despite the fact Michael Jackson is my idol I love this book! It's not fiction it's something real! Autobiography! So .. what else I can say?

Usually, I sticky tab quotes in books that I like, but if I would have done that with this book the entire book would have been tabbed from cover to cover. So I didn’t even bother.

As we’re nearing the 10th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s passing (tomorrow, actually), I feel like this month was the perfect time to read this book. I only started being a hardcore fan and loving Michael with all my heart earlier this year, and I’ve never experienced the anniversary of his passing while I’ve been a

I am a massive Michael Jackson fan, and I love hearing his story in his own words. His publishers rejected the first draft of the book because it was not scandalous enough, and so this was the first time he revealed the childhood beatings he experienced, which undoubtedly contributed to the person who he became (not the freak people say he is, but the wonderful, loving humanitarian (but of course, I'm biased!)) It also contains some interesting passages regarding how he strongly opposed the ...more

On my way to the library yesterday, I heard the sad news about Michael Jackson's passing. I borrowed this book and read it last night. He was an incredibly talented person who was forced into the public eye at a very young age. I think many people misunderstood him. This book was written by him when he was 29 years old. At one point in the book he said that he already felt like he was 80 because he had been working so hard for most of his life (beginning when he was only five). Every single day ...more

When this book was published in 1988 I was only 11 years old. 20 years later I read this book, after the author has gone to heaven. I'm glad that this book exists. I'm glad that Michael eventually agreed for the book to be printed after a last minute hesitation about it.

I love the book. There're many photos of Michael himself and with the people he loved and adored. There's one picture of himself that he drew , which are precious for me, a big fan. On the hard cover, Michael's signature printed

I used to be crazy about Michael as a kid. Whenever I heard him on the radio, if my parents were nearby, I would get all shy and cover my face with my hands so they wouldn't see how excited I was for hearing his songs (I don’t know why I acted like that though). I also used to watch "Moonwalker" over and over, on a German dubbed VHS tape, that my dad had bought in one of his work-related travels.

I've never been a die-hard fan of his, in the sense that I didn't know his entire discography nor did

Moonwalk is an amazing and very descriptive story of Michael Jackson's life prior to and up until 1985. Throughout the book, Jackson talks about his struggles as a growing famous teenager. He acknowledges that fame isn't what it all seems to be. In fact, he would love to trade places with anyone at anytime. He exaggerates on the point that because of his fame, his life is not what he wanted it to be. Growing up with an abusive father, with no friends and absolutely no independence makes him love ...more

I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to get a peek into the life of Michael Jackson that we normally don't know about. I just wish it would have been a more recent book so we can get what he was feeling now a days, before he died.

I love and have always loved Michael and his music. He will truely be the King Of Pop forever!!! While I wasn't even born when most of the events in this book take place it's nice to see what kind of childhood he had, even if it wasn't the best with all the

When I learned the Michael Jackson one of my favorite singers of all time had written a book I tracked it down like a bloodhound on a scent trail. And I am happy to announce that I was not disappointed. Just reading words that he had written and intended for his fans to read gave me a strong sense of euphoria.

This book was well written though it was very short and somewhat closed off like Michael always was with a lot of his personal life. It made me think of a child scared to document his or

Michael is talking to you as if you are having a cup of tea with him in his living room. You get the sense that Michael is having more than tea, because his stream of consciousness takes fascinating turns and goes off on self-maieutic tangents, which provide insight into his character, determination, and artistry.

"I'm a person of the present, and I have to ask, How are things going now? What's happening now? What's going to happen in the future that could affect what has happened in the past?" ~ Michael Jackson, quote from Moon Walk, Michael Jackson's One & Only Autobiography, His Life, in His Words.

Michael's book was first published in 1988. We now know his future, but not clear how that future affected his then "now" or past. He said at one point in his bio that he felt like an old person, due to

This is the one autobiography Michael Jackson actually wrote himself, and it gives a look into his musical process and a bit of insight into his internal world. I don't know what other to say, than he was an incredible genius. The way in which he describes how he creates music, what his songs mean to him is simply mind blowing. For example, in this passage:

"'Everybody' is more playful than 'Off the Wall' dance tunes, with Mike McKinney propelling it like a plane turning and bearing down. The

Book Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

Story Line: 5 stars out of 5. I really felt like I got to know the real Michael Jackson by reading this. It was nice getting to know his thoughts and feelings. People really tend to judge others. So many people made up lies about him. This book was an amazing read. I really enjoyed and loved every minute of it. I read it slower than I normally do with books because I really wanted to absorb every word that he said. I successfully did that and I feel

As a kid, one of the artists my Dad always played for me was Michael Jackson and I grew to absolutely love his music and I still do to this day. So when I recently found out he wrote a book in 1988 I was like hell yes I need this book in my life and I am so glad I found out about it. I read this book in literally one day and it is so easy to read as you can hear Michael’s voice within the writing. Also, reading about how he came up with ideas and the production of his songs was just so great.

I enjoyed this book, which I purchased and first read years ago. It gives interesting insight into a man who was, in my opinion, undoubtedly a musical genius. Unfortunately, as with most geniuses, this trait can turn against a person.
It was certainly interesting to read about Michael's childhood and their treatment at the hands of their father, which I felt was rather restrained. Not to mention the impact that thousands of screaming female fans would have had on an eleven-year-old, in addition

I read this book many many years ago and being a huge Michael Jackson fan I found it to be very open and a great read. Michael talks about his childhood and his rise to fame especially during his "Thriller" era. I only wish that he would have added more to the book in his last years of life or that he would have wrote another book on his life after the trials. Michael's early life in his own words. To be such an integral part of my youth and a role model for me, I felt honored to have read this book penned by the man.

To know him on a private level, if even only through his words on paper, is an honor and one I will cherish for all the days of my life.

Fan or not, getting to know him is a beautifully sad, brilliant, awe inspiring thing and I would recommend this book to everyone.

A true legend. I loved to read in his words how close he was with some of his brothers, how he loved his sisters and mother -his father is another story... he doesn't tell much but it is obvious his father was controlling and kinda abusive-, how a perfectionist he was, all the effort that paid off, all the little details in his PVs and his performances, as part of the Jackson 5 and also when he went solo. The pop singer Michael Jackson breaks the barrier of silence that has surrounded his private life. He recalls a childhood that was both harsh and joyful,
the transformation of the Jackson Five into worldwide stardom, his sometimes difficult relationships with his family, and the inspiration and drive behind
his music. He also talks about show-business friends such as Diana Ross, Paul McCartney, Fred Astaire and Marlon Brando, and about his decision to have
extensive plastic surgery. The book is

"Moonwalk" by Michael Jackson the king of pop, is a journey through Michael's early life. It is his only autobiography published in 1988. He wrote about his childhood and how he and his brothers started the Jackson 5 with the support of his parents. His life was a very simple life in a small house in Gary, Indiana, but his performances where so great for a little star that then became the king of pop who everyone knows! This book offers an insight into Michael jackson. Some people say that he is reluctant to go into intense detail about his as the a lot of people call "bizarre" behaviour, his private life and who michael jackson really is, but to be honest why should he go into intense detail about all this, Michael jackson deserved a private life no matter how famous he was, maybe the main reason why he only goes into so much detail about his life in this autobiography was because he wanted to keep a few ...more

It is an easy read, easy to follow, and shows an insight into what Michael felt of his life and he shares some personal stories. Although the controversy is still years to come, it shows his struggles with who he is and how the tabloids treated him after the "Thriller" days.
