Find out how love blooms when red-hatted Juliet meets blue-hatted Gnomeo while their rival families wage war to have the best garden in Stratford-Upon-Avon. This junior novelization is a complete retelling of the animated movie Gnomeo & Juliet.
As a child I had a traumatizing experience with the movie version of this book. It gave me nightmares for reasons that I would not like to say. It caused my family problems. Now that I am grow I decided that I needed to get over my fear, so I read this book. It was soooooooooooooooo good. I totally like this book better that the movie. I have gotten over my fear and I bought a Juliet costume 2 embrace it. I recommend this people of all ages. XOXO traumatized girl.
A cute story for all ages with writing that promises for more from the author. Romeo and Juliet has been well known throughout history as a literary staple so the decision for Disney to collaborate with new story tellers is not one that comes with much surprise. My shock comes from being able to find more relatable qualities with the gnomes than Shakespeare's original characters. After finishing this book, I was more interested in watching the animated version than I ever remember being watching a stage play or movie version of this classic tale. It is a story worth telling again and Molly McGuire Woods finds ways to weave new pieces of fabric into the layered scheme. The modern additions to the main characters and the language used makes for a more palatable experience for me. The inclusion of the color photos inserted towards the middle of the book add an unexpected fun quality as well.
A fun retelling of the classic Shakespeare tragedy. It has been long enough since I’d seen the movie to find the plot a fun and entertaining read. There are definitely some chuckles afoot as well as comic hearts floating through the air.
