I really wish happy endings didn't mean getting married and pregnant. How about realising they're in love and that being enough??? Happens too many times in books

Two novellas in one book and FUN with a capital F!

The First Novella "Thief of Hearts" is about an E.R. doctor named Dr. Jared Dean and Kara - who is better known on the streets as The Avenging Angel. They have a chance encounter and their lives become entwined in a screwball "it can only happen in a book" way. Lot's of fun, lots of actual laughing out loud, and just enough heat with the loving to make a girl need a cool drink of water.

On a side note - I love how MaryJanice Davidson will switch

I was looking for something light and fluffy to wash out all the rape I've been reading about, and this was not it. Sure, it started out really appealing and fun, and by the time I was clued into just what I was reading, I was pretending I was reading a porn script so I could keep suspending my disbelief.

It's not that the lust stories in this book are unrealistic. People's hormones get the better of them all the time. It's the love aspect injected into the stories that had me raising an eyebrow.

Doing It Right by MaryJanice Davidson consists of two stories, Thief of Hearts and Wild Hearts.

Thief of Hearts, the longer story, is about the love match between an ER doctor, Dr. Jared Dean, and the city's so-called The Avenging Angel, Kara. In between fighting and hiding from the mobster Kara had a run-in with, she and Jared were falling in love. Jared fell hopelessly in love with her and he made it known from the beginning while Kara was scared and standoffish. Obviously, by the end of the s

Picked this up because I typically enjoy MaryJanice Davidson's humorous and light writing. While the two stories carried the same light tone that I love, the humor fell rather flat. Davidson's novels always carry scenes that get quite ridiculous but they typically are believable for the plot and characters. This wasn't the case in these two stories. The stories ended up nose-diving into the land of zany corniness after the first few pages and they lost me once that happened.

Don't buy this book expecting the best, because you will be disappointed. It's not a total let down, because you do get your money's worth of MJ's steamy characters. Dirty filthy smut is not in short supply in this book! But if you're expecting the usual MJ snark found with Betsy, Fred, or the Royals, you will be disappointed.
Your best bet is to A) suspend every ounce of logic you have (reading with one eye closed may help), or B) skip the thin plot and jump right to the naughty bits.

2 short stories. Both had potential to be remotely interesting, but as you can tell from the title, the plot gets lost in exchange for sex. (At least the first short story did.) Both short stories tie together because of the characters. I just read it because it's one of the few MJD stories I haven't read. If the second story had had time to develop I might have liked the characters. They were a little unbelievable, but they were at least funny.
This author's stand alone books are very hit or miss for me. I made it about 25 pages into the first story before I had to give it up. The story was just a little too over the top for me and I found I couldn't care less what was happening to them. This one just wasn't for me.

I enjoyed all the MaryJanice Davidson vampire books. This one not so muuch.

As with most of MaryJanice's books, I laughed through a good part of both stories in this one. If you need a laugh this book - either story will do that for you. The first one is a cat burgler who has to protect the "hero" because he inadvertantly walks in and sees something that he should not have... the face of a killer - one that no one has lived to tell anyone about.

The second one the D.A.'s sister catches a theif stealing her car, turns the tables on the theif and takes him to her brother t

OK so Theif of Hearts was GREAT I love MJD and I have never read a book where I liked the main male character so much I mean Dr Dean was hilarious and sexy to boot. Wild Hearts was a good follow up but I wish it was a novel and not a novella because it was too quick everything happend in like tha spain of minutes but I guess thats why its a novella. Excelent read all in all if you are a fan of MJD or just a fan of laughing ur ass off I would definitly suggegest this book.
Goge (BARRONS) le Moning Maniac,
Story One:

Dr. Jared Dean can hardly believe he's watching the woman of his fantasies beating the crud out of the city's biggest, toughest mobster. Kara never meant for her latest revenge stunt to land the gorgeous doc on a hit list, but there's only one thing to do: guard Dr. Jared's extremely fine bod until she can figure a way out of this mess for both of them.

Story Two:

"messing with the D.A.'s sister is crazy, but.."

This is actually two stories which are connected. Set in Chicago, the plot seems to pay homage to the comic version of the vigilante with the mysterious A.A.(Avenging Angel)
I enjoyed the fact that the superhero was female, but I wish a little more of her background was given.
The story is action packed and fun.

Hot and way funny! MaryJanice Davidson does it again with her humor and romance combination. Had me all hot and bothered one minute than laughing so hard the next.
Two fun, and connected stories about unexpected love matches, with strong funny women, and hot funny men. Great combo, and fun to read.

The Good: Two MJD romance/erotica stories make up Doing it Right. It's a quick read and the sex is super hot.

The Bad: Unfortunately, the sex is the only thing right about this book. Davidson attempts her well-known style of humor here, but it just doesn't work for the characters. They can't pull off the wit nor the scandalous, ridiculous situations they are thrust into.
The Flooze
The first story, of Kala and Jared, was quick and fun. Infused with MJD's typical sarcastic humor and outrageous situations, it was an enjoyable read. The second, a follow-up on the characters, was amusing, but hastily put together and not very satisfying. It's very short however, and was worth reading for the marvelously droll comments made by an adorable 4 year old.

This was great romance fiction. Often in romance the characters are unbelievable and this was as believable as vigilanteism will ever get. My favourite part of the entire book was the armadillo pickle dream! I love love love absurdist and humorous erotica and a pickle fetish was the perfect cherry on top of my day. Would recommend to people who like weird things.

At first, I thought the lead female character was bionic or part of a secret government experiment. And then I realized, no this is set in a semi-reality based world...hmmm. Still, a great fun read and the intimate scenes were both parts funny and sexy--hard to do! Loved it.

***Spoiler Alert***

I am know going to buy an armadillo suit and some dill pickles.

This pair of novella's were very fun and tied in nicely with each other. A quick fun read, which did cover some surprisingly dark topics (child abuse). The premise was bit ridiculous and it wasn't very believable but it was very funny and I enjoyed it.

Well, it was certainly 'erotica' and the storyline was predictable for the genre. Can't say it was a great read - it was fluffy and and easy book to devour in a few days. Would have been faster but I kept falling asleep!

Cute little quick read, with some laughes and steamy hot scenes, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want a long, sit down kind of read. There are two stories in this book, plot lines descent, but at times I felt like this quirky little book was trying to take its characters to serious.
two short stories... the first one was pretty good but the second one? i felt like i was missing pages of my book - it ended really abruptly. all of that to say - ms. davidson is an amazing author and i love her other series. this book was fun and quick but not her best work.

This was really 2 different stories. The first was a novella that was actually very good for the type of fluff romance it is. It was an engaging, enjoyable, easy read. The second was a follow up story, which left a lot to be desired. The whole book took less than 2 hours to read.

I was using this book as a palate cleanse. I needed something fun and silly... (MaryJanice usually does the job) but even then I was wildly disappointed.
