I really wanted to like this book more as a feminist scholar. It has some very interesting points on reinterpretation of the literature via symptomatic readings. But it is very weak art-historically and fails in being able to build on earlier theories from Pollock or others productively. Why someone who dislikes the Pre-Raphaelites so intensely, and is determined to ignore some of the essential circumstances of the production of the artworks, would write an entire book about it is puzzling.
