It was supposed to be a win-win situation-a safe environment in which to raise a son for single mom Vicky, housekeeping and childcare for widowed Jack. Believing they've had their shot at happiness, neither is looking to complicate their lives with a romantic entanglement. At first Jack sees Vicky as skinny and plain, guarded with him, but openly warm with his children, an ...more

Jack Hazlett has been working at home as much as he can since his wife died, but every now and then he has to show up at the office.

Victoria "Vicky" Lowell arrived on Hazlett's doorstep with the intention of buying the men's bicycle he had advertised for her young son. She didn't anticipate him leaving her with his children all day without a how-do-you-do.

Vicky is excited about her new job. She's currently in an abusive relationship and relishes the opportunity the money will make for her and

An accidental meeting; a mistaken identity; a harried widower and father; grieving children; a woman and her son running from a stalker. All these are important characters and aspects of this new novel by Joyce DeBacco, one that highlights the difficulties when parents are not really aware of the stresses of raising children until one of the parents is gone for whatever reason. It is also the story of a lonely woman who has worked hard at trying to be a worthy person, especially when it comes to ...more

Story of Vicky, a single mother struggling her way through an abusive relationship. In a case of mistaken identity, she ends up as housekeeper and nanny to Jack and his brood of three little girls, all left without a wife and mom after a tragic death.

This story has a lot jammed in it: abuse, death and grief, pyscho stalkers, ex boyfriends, some mystic elements, amnesia, an overprotective neighbor, a kidnapping, and some mystical elements which were heavy handed and completely unnecessary.

I was given this book to read and review honestly by the author.

I was able to get into this story right away, I love it when this happens, it usually means that I enjoy it, and it was the case in this. However, the story was great in that in the beginning how Vicky got to get her job accidentally and remained as a child minder was a bit unreal in this day and age, but it was a story, so I accepted that the realism may just not be there due to being fiction, it was just something that quickly wen

Where Dreams are Born by Joyce DeBacco

I found it had just about everything thrown into the story. An unwed teen, Vicky, raises her son Tommy as a single parent. Her life in turmoil she marries Tom, a friend, who is a good husband and father. When he dies, she becomes involved with a man named Hank who is abusive to her and her son.

Vicky leaves Hank and finds she is comfortable in the position of housekeeper and nanny for Jack Hazlett and his daughters.
Both Jack and Vicky have their own problems

This is the story of Jack, who's lost his way after the death of his wife; and Vicky, who is enduring an abusive relationship. Vicky ends up in the right place and time, and a misunderstanding makes everyone's lives change for the better. This is an extreme feel-good story, with just the right amount of drama and suspense to make it a page-turner. As with all of the books I've read by this author, this was a truly enjoyable read.

Overall this book was one of my favorite Genres. But this book was too dry of emotion for what story this book was trying to tell. Details of the characters were not vague but at the same time not detailed enough to get a sense of the emotional turmoil they were supposed to be going through. The author made a great story, just needs more personal dialog, especially from the children, who i think should have been more prominent in the book.
