Let me go ahead and admit up front that I am completely and totally in love with lofts. I want to live in one and I'm constantly turning to my husband and saying things like "Let's buy an abandoned laundromat and turn it into a house" or other weird things of that nature.

That's one of the reasons why I grabbed this book -- because that's exactly what it is about (well, that, and the fact that I just love to look at the pretty pictures and annoy my husband by constantly saying "hey babe, look at this" or "ooh, I want to do this" or "how do you like this?"). Stone does a pretty good job of walking you through the process of converting a loft (the raw space) into a home -- she covers it all, with lots of checklists and measurements and other handy tools. I thought that she spent an awful lot of time focusing on the kitchen, especially sinks (what's up with that?) and less time on the other living spaces. I walked away with a pretty good grasp of the nuts and bolts of doing something like this myself -- which, let's face it -- won't be happening any time soon.
