I have just finished this book and to be honest it could not be better than this.
As a Material science graduate student with almost limited (read no background) in statistics, this book at first helped me to understand the basics of statistics and then taught me how to understand DOE and perform it. It won't be a reference book for the people who want to go deep inside the field, but for sure it can help people like me to change the way of looking toward their research.

The book provides a solid introduction into the basics of design of experiments. It is significantly leaning towards factorial designs, and sadly not elaborating very much on mixture designs and response surface methods.
