We absolutely adore the Henry and Mudge series and have read them over and over. We are really emotionally invested in the series, know all the characters, try to piece together the family tree, wonder about cousin Annie's mother, etc. I am not really an animal person, but I love Mudge.

I am excited because for the first time my daughter has read one to me! These books are great for early readers because the language is simple but the stories and pictures are so entertaining. So often I find tha
A book my 6 yr old loved, a little old for my preschoolers. A solid reading level 2 book, this reader has a good amount of advanced vocabulary words, but not so long that it discourages a new reader. Used it for his read out loud book, which was perfect. It took about 20 mins for him to read and had just enough new vocabulary words to make it challenging. Also, it was a fun and interesting story he could get into. He liked it so much, he asked for more by this author. Great reading book!

This series still isn't as charming as Mr. Putter and Tabby for me, but even I have to admit that this one was a pretty good story.

A great read aloud with my son. We took turns reading to each other. This series is filled with pleasant stories about a boy and his dog.

Lovely story of a boy and his dog and a day at the beach. Henry and Mudge stories always bring back such fond childhood memories for me! I love sharing these tales with kids.

Henry and his big dog Mudge spend a fun day at the beach. Mudge has never seen the ocean before but loves it. Henry, Mudge, and Henry's dad spend the day exploring the sea, jumping in the waves, and having fun with a crab.

I absolutely love Henry and Mudge. They feel like old friends when I read about their adventures. They always have fun together and teach about the joys of simply being together.

My son and I both thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series and were excited to find out what would happen as we started each one. Because my son was between 5-6 years old (he's an advanced reader) at the time, he easily identified with Henry and loved Mudge because (1) he desperately wanted a dog, and (2) Mudge's goofiness was endearing AND hilarious.

Another great Henry and Mudge book. Henry and Mudge go to the beach with Henry's father, a fun dad-son day. The story shares experiences of jumping into the ocean, riding waves, building sandcastles, eating sno-cones, and finding a crab. They definitely are not the best example of healthy eating on their day at the beach, but the mommy in me needs to settle down and enjoy that hotdogs and sno-cones are fun. Even if that's all you have for lunch and dinner.

I do think that Mudge is a bad example o

Henry and Mudge have become dear favorites in the realm of kid literature over the passing years. This book is my first experience with them, but I can see the appeal behind the tight-knit family that Cynthia Rylant has created in this series. Henry, his dog Mudge, and Henry's father are a unique family that nevertheless carries wide appeal because of the affection with which the three all regard each other.

Henry and Mudge and the Forever Sea is a good introduction to these characters. In it, w

Excellent series. My daughter loves reading Henry and Mudge books, they are simple stories but with some challenging but familiar words. In this book, Henry and Mudge go to the Beach with Dad, their adventures are described in the book.

Another wonderful Cynthia Rylant early reader series, much enjoyed by kids kindergarten through 2d grade. Sweet, gentle stories about the relationship between a boy and his very big dog. Many kids love them, but boys seem to gravitate toward them most.

This is a fun beach storybook. Henry, his Dad and Mudge get to go and spend the day at the beach. Mudge had never been there before and they were all looking forward to the fun they would all have. The story follows them through the day and helps you 'feel' the fun they have too.

A favorite for the past week. Easy reader with four chapters.
This easy reader book has 4 short chapters contained within 40 or so pages. It is just right for a reader just beginning to read longer books. Children will like both the boy and the dog.

I enjoyed this book because it was funny. I also enjoyed this book because the funny part was a giant wave that splashed Henry and Mudge and they rolled to the shore afterwards.

I love this book. The lobster part is my favorite.

Four fun, short stories about Henry and Mudge (and Henry's Dad) going on a trip to the sea shore. A quick book to read aloud.
