This is actually a compendium of three novels, War of Two Worlds, Operation Crimson Storm, and The Martians Strike Back. The first book is a retelling from a more modern perspective of the "War of the Worlds." The other two books are essentially sequels to that story. I've heard people critize it as, why do we need a retelling of that grand story, but the fact is the books are fun reads. And the sequels expand the story in interesting ways. I enjoyed them.
