Writing for Psychology

Rate this book
WRITING FOR PSYCHOLOGY offers concise assistance for students writing their research analyses using APA Style. By providing concrete examples of common errors, the authors are able to show--rather than merely tell--students what to do and what to avoid. This manual will help students adhere to the basics of APA style; refine critical thinking skills, library search skills, revising skills, editing skills, and proofing skills; and avoid plagiarism. Checklists precede the summary at the end of every chapter, giving students the chance to make sure they have been thorough in their reports.

I bought the 7e off Cengage for University (we had to buy it as part of Chapter 2 related directly to our research report). It is a good introductory book on how to write essays/research reports etc. It was a short read with only seven chapters. I did get a lot out of Chapter 2 as I haven't been up to date with writing research reports or using the newest APA referencing styles so it was useful for this. I found chapter 6 "Writing correctly and with style" is a chapter that really takes a person time to develop these skills in writing but was helpful for a beginner to learn what is required to write well. Chapter 7 provided some tips on how to prepare for exams/short answer questions/multiple choice questions. Again, this is great for someone who is new to exams etc. Overall, it is a great introductory book!
