-- The new edition will add to the first edition's success by greatly enhancing it's visual content.-- New photos of even more exercises and two-color line illustrations depicting muscles being worked in each exercise will appeal to those who learn by seeing.
The Complete Idiot's Guide "RM" to Weight Training, Second Edition, Illustrated will be updated to be even more useful to those looking for an approachable, beginner's guide to lifting weights. This book will be revised in The Complete Idiot's Guide's new illustrated format, whereby photos and lines are given just at much attention as the easy-to-read text. Some people learn by reading, others learn by seeing. The Complete Idiot's Guide "RM" to Weight Training, Second Edition, Illustrated will appeal to both groups. The book will include multiple exercises for all of the major muscle groups; all new photos for each exercise, depicting the beginning, midpoint, and ending positions of each exercise; new photos depicting the most common mistakes in executing various exercises, so that readers can learn from other's mistakes and not their own; new two-color line illustrations for each paragraph, showing the reader which muscles are involved with each exercise; coverage of all of the things readers need to know before they get started, including nutrition basics, stretching, weight training etiquette, and proper attire; and fitness programs based on the readers fitness goals.
I find it a little strange to write a review on a book about weight training, but I was quite pleased with this book. I checked out a number of weight training books from the library and not only did this end up being my favorite, but I read it almost from cover to cover. Unlike other Idiot's guides, this didn't sound like it was written by an "idiot". Picutures and tips were helpful. Text was engaging.
I'd never set foot in a gym until a few years ago, so feeling completely bewildered I got this book to help get me oriented to the world of weight training. I feel like it served me pretty well. I wish it had answered more of my questions about topics such as the pluses and minuses of protein powders and how to use them, and the frequent attempts at light-heartedness/humor didn't work too well. I did appreciate the photos that showed exactly how to do various exercises.
This book helped me to correct my form and learn some new strength training moves to add to my list. It answers all of your questions you might not know about working out!
