I came onto the KU scene just as Boschee was leaving but I was instantly attracted to his playing style. When this book was released decades ago, we bought it and put it on our shelf where it has since just sat. I made it my goal to read more of books that I had bought but never read and since it’s KU basketball season, I pulled it down and gave it a read. It was interesting to reflect on how different the recruiting process is now with high speed internet and the NIL. I’m kind of surprised he chose to write a book with how reserved he comes off in the novel. I am now more curious to go see his coaching style but not sure I’ll make that happen.
Fun book to read. Interesting as he is from North Dakota and was in the headlines as a high school basketball player. It gives a great perspective of a level headed basketball player. I knew he was a great player, but while he had talent, he also practiced hard and had a supportive family and teams who helped. I found a bit of the inside view of a Final Four team to be insightful as well.
Any Jayhawk fan should read this book. It's an inside look at the workings and the thinking of a Jayhawk legend. Young Jayhawk fans should read it to understand what it takes to play for the Jayhawks.
Jeff Boschee really wrote an amazing book. He tells his story from when he was five all the way up to the end of his college basketball career. His story of how he found his love in basketball and how he practiced hard everyday is very inspiring. In the book your hear about pretty much everyone on the Kansas Jayhawk team and you get to hear about their story too. This book really inspires me and if you read it I'm sure it will inspire you too.
