I am glad that I read the mini lessons for lit circles book first, because I will be able to use this book to support the ideas in the first one. This book on its own would not have, I think, been enough for me to get started this year with lit circles, though it has a wealth of good role sheets and many ideas for end-of-book presentations/projects. Not a good enough stand-alone book for me, though.
