3.25 stars I guess I expected the tone of the book to be different and felt it had so many potential areas it never completely explored. The ending was just too pat. Had the heroine worked through her issues with wealthy men (as her father was)? What about the sexual abuse from a foster father that was hinted at?
To recap, and though this is preposterous but go with it, the heroine decides to make a programme to get revenge on the hero, she is gonna make herself into his perfect woman, make him fall in love & then reject him. A hero she has never met but since he has bought the company she works for and has fired her old boss without giving him a reference (her reaction stems from dislike of powerful men like her dead father). So, out goes her conservative clothes, and in comes sexy form-fitting clothes, heels & highlights.
I guess I just didn't see the chemistry between these two and for a minute it seemed like the author was trying to make it seem like the old boss wasn't responsible for the embezzling but someone else was, but that was dropped quickly and we get a pat HEA full of an epilogue.
The H is a millionaire who takes over the firm where h works in. There are mentions about the previous president being a gambler who embezzled and there is suspicions of others who may have helped. The h is a computer programmer and hearing news of her ex-boss being thrown out without a reference writes a program to make the new owner fall in love with her without once meeting him so she can walk out on him afterwards. Its definitely not a well thought out plot or plan but the story itself despite this unfortunate plot background is surprisingly lighthearted and funny.
