I'm fascinated by Edgar Cayce because unlike other supposed "mediums" or "prophets" Cayce is the only one in history who was always proven correct. His medical predictions astound me. This "window" between sleep and wakefulness where he claimed to clearly see and find answers is so interesting, partly because my own "window" is just useless in that department.
But as I said his predictions have been accurate, so I thought I'd read this book to find out when the world is going to end. I had trouble getting into it, though, and I put it aside weeks ago. But today I read Moonbeam's blog about her concern over the end of the world, and I thought of it again. If anyone knows what's going to happen to us I figure Edgar Cayce definitely knew. So I've picked the book up again. I'll be sure and let you all know what I find out.

Having been a fan of Edgar Cayce after reading 'There is a River,' I jumped at the chance to learn more on the philosophy and overarching themes from his readings. Particularly, how Spirit communicates with us through our inner voice. I discovered this gem at a used bookstore and have found such peace, wisdom and understanding in its depths. So much so that it has become one of my favorite book of all time, and I know I will reread it many times over the course of my life. Thank you Dr. Puryear for compile all of this wisdom and so eloquently explaining it's pertinence in our lives. Can't recommend it enough!

September 7, 2017I've always been a little fascinated by Edgar Cayce. He was a self-identified Christian who is said to have tapped into another dimension with regularity, transcribed amazing information, and then remembered nothing of it upon waking. I thought this book was more along lines of a biography than a examination of his readings. Guess I should have read the description more closely. In any event, I just couldn't get into it. The writing style felt awkward and lethargic; I found myself muttering "Get on with it already" once too often. DNF.

I love Edgar Cayce. Over the years I have read many of his book and books about his theories and practices. Self-transformation is a personal journey and there are many books out there on this subject that will guide you on the right path for you. You have to find a teacher that is good for you. For me, that teacher is Edgar Cayce. This book is a wonderful guide that will help you on your journey.

First, if you are not familiar with the name Edgar Cayce, you should read the biography "There is a River" by Thomas Sugrue. Edgar Cayce is known for his thousands of readings given on various subjects while in a psychic state, and many people pre-judge him and the readings on the basis of that alone. I would suggest that you judge the tree by the fruit it bears.
So this book presupposes at least a casual familiarity with the readings, but it is quite deep philosophically and theologically. It's not only that there are no contradictions between the readings and Christianity; the readings provide a much deeper understanding of our relationship to God and Christ.
Two themes prevail in this book. First, there is only one force, and that force is God, and that force is good. Evil is the result of our separation from God. Second, we need to orient ourselves to a spiritual ideal, and that ideal must be compatible with the Great Commandment, to love tbe Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. When the ideal is set, your mind becomes the builder of the actions of your life, and your body falls in line.
Another book you might want to read before this one is "Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet" by Jess Stearn. I have found the Edgar Cayce readings to be very helpful and enlightening. Maybe you will, too.

Insightful concepts and teachings. Topics that were covered were a plenty although in briefs summarization. Hence it makes reading difficult to understand since the author attempted to provide a succinct information to the already colossal database of the great Edgar Cayce teachings . Sentences were too long and the use of jargon were abit overwhelming . Not recommended for a first curious reader .

Very Interesting, lots of great insights and perspectives into the possibilities this reality holds. It took forever to read because after each chapter I'd have to put the book down to mull over and think about what has been said. Really gets the gears going.

Such a wonderful book.... And the truth with in the pages! Knowing that God is truly within and not outer, makes me feel good knowing I'm on the right track! That really we all are! Because our choice good or bad is still getting us home to the divine!
