Do you have someone in your past you would like to reconnect with? Caroline Davis White wasn't looking for Mickey, now Mike Foster, her childhood crush, she was fleeing her philandering husband, seeking peace and quiet, time to reflect on changing her life. But there was Mike, saving her from a mishap...again, bigger than life and even more handsome.
A well-known artist, Sunny thought she could escape, disappear back to the cabin where she spent her summers as a child. But she was wrong. Her husband refused to let her go. There hadn't been a divorce in Brad White's family...ever! And he wasn't about to start breaking that tradition now. Could Caroline shake him loose and what about Mike? Where did he fit into her life?
I've been making up stories for as long as I can remember. When other kids wanted to be doctors, teachers or firemen, I wanted to be a writer. As soon as I could read, I began devouring books. I'd read anything I could get my hands on, but Louisa May Alcott's Little Women and Nancy Drew mysteries were early favorites. In school, term papers were my favorite homework. While others bemoaned the amount of work involved, I jumped in, burying myself in research and writing the document with care. Still fiction was my first love. After college and a degree in English, I fell into the world of advertising. After many years in corporate America, I went my own way. Working and raising two kids took all my energy and creativity. But when the youngest went off to school, all the stories ideas in my head came to life. Mac Caldwell and Callie Richards landed in my head and refused to leave. So I told their story. What started as one book has become six. Now I greet my characters every morning at six and jump back into their story, enjoying every minute. I'm blessed to be able to work at something I love and share my space with my husband as well as my beloved pug, Homer. More than 26 books later, I'm still up at the crack of dawn, crafting the tales of the people who live in my head.
A delightful and winsome love story built around two people who were once real pals but who had lost touch in adult life. Now they have reconnected without really knowing much about what has happened during those "silent years." The friendship ties are as strong as ever, but each has secrets that could potentially ruin any future happiness together. It is a warm and wonderful story that traces their growing affection and love, but behind the scenes are people and situations that may not only ruin any future relationship but also be the source of deep misery. Jean Joachim has written some really great stories and it was a delight to read this new book.
This is a sweet and sensual story of a childhood crush rediscovered years later that blossoms into love. It was fun watching the relationship grow between Mike and Caroline (Sunny) so many years after not seeing each other. Naturally they both have memories from when they were younger. Mike had been a few years older than Sunny and had sort of adopted the older brother/protector attitude towards her at that time, never knowing that Sunny had a crush on him. It's interesting watching them both come to terms with who they were in the past, and their feelings for each other back then, and who they are now and their feelings for each other now. It is very realistically portrayed, giving the reader a chance to wonder, perhaps, what it would be like if they were to meet up with an old crush.
Initially, Sunny surprised me. She didn't strike me as the type to run from a situation, no matter how hopeless or intimidating. Once we get to know the character, though, you can see that it wasn't so much running away as it was coming to terms with where she has let her life lead her and the circumstances she has found herself in, as well as giving herself some breathing room to determine her course of action. In a manner of speaking, she needed time to lick her wounds and heal. The secondary character of the butler that first appears in the very beginning had an amusing attitude that had me chuckling. He had a job that he must keep, and duties that he must fulfill, but he didn't necessarily have to like it or his boss.
The author did an excellent job in describing the setting of a small resort town, as well as the feelings associated with the characters situations. The pacing was well done – nothing happening too quickly so as to not be believable, even with a shorter length novel. And you get invested in the characters relatively quickly. This was a well written story that I really enjoyed, about a woman finding herself again after being in a lousy relationship that should have jaded her on men and then finding the one that she should have been with all along.
Caroline is married to a jerk. That's the short, but not-so-sweet truth. Finally fed up with his antics, she packs her bags and leaves. She heads somewhere with good memories, her family's summer lakeside rental at The Birches, and as part of her new start, adopts the name Sunny, what everyone called her before she married into a life of luxury.
In time, she meets The Birches maintenance man, Mike, who turns out to be her childhood crush. Sunny is understandably surprised, especially when it becomes evident that Mike is becoming interested in her. Naturally, her unfinished business with her jerk of a husband keeps her from being open to a relationship with Mike, and that leads to some misunderstandings.
This was a pleasant read. Oftentimes, when I'm reading romance novels, I'm picturing young twenty-somethings, with an annoying perfectly pretty streak. I appreciated reading a story that seemed to fit my age-group: that don't-you-dare-imply-I'm-pushing-forty demographic. The characters felt like people I could know. Average, intelligent people just looking for a little happiness.
I especially liked Mike. I like Mike. Sorry, can't ignore a fun rhyme, there. I'm always a sucker for a guy who is beautiful to the woman who loves him. I don't need a hero who looks like he just stepped off the cover of GQ. I imagined him as attractive, but not necessarily perfect. When an author gives me that imaginative freedom, the hook is set.
Angst-whore that I am, it often surprises me when I'm given what qualifies as a mellow read, and find myself enjoying it. And I definitely enjoyed this one. The romance in this story isn't about getting to the smutty smut, it's about what's going on in our couple's hearts and minds. And that's something I was definitely on board for in this book. Mike and Sunny made sense. And I'd definitely recommend this story.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!! I just want to say I have read Moonlight and Roses which is the prelude and this was JUST GREAT!!! The two books flow so good its like they don't even stop. This book will make you laugh cry and freak out!!! You feel the intensity of the moment right off the bat at the open of this book! You get a GREAT view of what a PIG Brad is and you feel the loneliness and sadness and betrayal that sunny feels as she walks around the house that was hers for years. When she gets to the cabin things really change for her and I love love love Mickey/ Mike!! He is so great and I love how having him there really makes sunny feel like she finally belongs somewhere. I really love this story !! With all the ups and downs Sunny finds her strength and someone who loves her. This story is great from start to finish!! The ending had me wondering ...till the VERY END!!! Nice touch!!!! I cant wait to read the next!! This is a keeper folks !!!! IT"S A KEEPER!!
This was a very good read for me, leaving a controlling marriage finding yourself and that person that got away, I think was good. Both characters were interesting to read, the performances and just the book on a whole was ok for me personally. I think Mike was yummy and I could fall for a guy like that. Depending on the type of books you like because people have different taste, I think you can give the book a try, it was a nice calming read and it took me on a journey on the ending of one relastionship to the beginning of another.

Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights is a very sweet romance that kept me reading ‘til I finished it. I got into the characters quickly and enjoyed the descriptions of their feelings as they handled the situations that came up. This is a story that many will enjoy if they like their Happily Ever Afters.
From the first page, Ms. Joachim pulled me into the story. I felt for Caroline/Sunny Davis as she tried to make a new life for herself as she rekindles a friendship with a childhood friend that turns into love. A well-paced book that made for an enjoyable afternoon of reading!
Good, fast book. Liked the story line a lot. Just felt like some of the storyline could've referenced more modern time music, to make it a little more believable. Still loved it!!
This was book two in series , I Was surprise Which I love to hear about Sunny and Mickey .. Really glad that the found love and happiness this again was a very light read ..

Review: When I read romance, I want to really know the characters, feel their pain and joy, travel with them, and when the story is done I want to feel satisfied that all the loose ends are tied up. Because of those expectations, short books are disappointing to me. I don’t feel that the characters get to really develop and grow if the story isn’t long enough...enter Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights. This book was a short, easy read that reminded me of some of the shorter books put out as series. In fact, the author mentions she liked the characters enough that she might write more about them in sequels. With all that said, let’s explore the story... Caroline Davis (Sunny) has money, that’s not the problem. She’s gorgeous, and smart, and funny. Her main problem is that her husband has decided she needs companionship. Yes, SHE needs companionship in the form of another man. This shocking revelation leads her to have the strength to leave the sprawling mansion and grounds she doesn’t refer to as home. She packs up her clothes, her dog, her painting supplies, and leaves for the great unknown.
The great unknown turns out to be a summer cabin her she inherited that needs work. Enter older, smart, ultra-rich, hunky former childhood friend, Mike. While the sparks do indeed fly between these two, I found the story a bit predictable. Girl hides from rich hubby. Childhood flame is interested in her. She is morally torn.
Anyone who has had to leave a marriage with just the clothes on their back will relate to the feelings she has regarding being “free” even though she isn’t yet divorced and her joy in making small daily decisions on her own. Even though he’s rich, Mike doesn’t just sit around and he spends Friday nights singing and playing with his band. The scenes where they sing together was a nice change of pace as she plays cat-and-mouse with her soon-to-be ex-husband in the form of phone calls, lawyer calls, and hiding from private eyes. As you read this story, you may find yourself more attracted to Mike as a character than Sunny, I know I did. I felt that he was pulled along on her roller coaster ride knowing she had something to tell him but didn’t realize what it was until he was a goner. I also liked the references and scenes with her dog and wished for more of them (avid dog lover here).
Quote: “I have to take care of myself, on my own for once, Mike. You can’t do it for me this time.” she said, touching his shoulder then resting her palm on his chest. Page 105

hea y'all Anne here and I've just read Sunny Days & Moonlit Nights by Jean Joachim and as with her first book in the series I loved it. The story line is so sweet, but the second book brings a bit more of an edge to it with the main character Sunny having made drastic changes to her life she now is experiencing more that life has to offer. The men in the book are such a strong contrast of what men can truly be like. On one side you have rich, powerful, and ego driven the other side is sweet humble and grounded to reality of life. I love how easily I can relate these books into real life situations. No one has a perfect life no matter how much money you have and in the end all women are searching for love and compassion. Through being hurt and betrayed Sunny finds the inner power to stand up for her self and her talents and goes after what her heart desires. These books are a great moral boost to women who have felt the sting of betrayal by a lover and long for something more. I absolutely suggest these books to every woman who is a romantic at heart and loves a good story to curl up with at night. Also the edge this book has to it is gut gripping I caught myself holding my breath more than once just waiting to see what would happen, how far can one person go to trap a love that is no longer his and how much can one woman take before she is pushed to far to keep running and submits? want to know then grab your copies today and fall in love with the story like I have. 5 out of 5 stars for Sunny Days & Moonlit Nights by Jean Joachim. On to her next book!!!
With a good premise, this book started off slowly before picking up the pace a bit. The story, however, seemed a bit choppy and disconnected from developing true feelings. Perhaps I felt this way because I couldn't understand the motives behind Sunny's actions. Even Brad confused me at times. It just didn't seem like there were natural reactions. The community Sunny moves to is fun and filled with very good characters. Mickey is a wonderful character and I liked him a lot. He was kind and loving and forgiving. Overall, a nice light read, but not my cup of tea.
