This book tries too hard to be significant and manages to miss every time. The Disappeared, 9/11, cancer, blah blah blah. Just pick one, man.

I think they were probably trying to start a new book with this one, but as with a lot of Marvel's Heroic Age this is just another misfire.

This mostly reads like pretentious fan fiction, and the art is of the same Amateur Hour level as the writing. I don't want to be hard on this book, but it's really tough to find something good to say about it. It's just

Recommends it for: Young Avengers fans!
Sean McKeever does a good job of planting some seeds but unfortunately the rug is pulled out from under him by lack of sales. Firestar and Gravity seem to get the most "screen" time and its probably deserved as Nomad and Toro are much weaker characters and Arana hasn't been developed well enough. The best part of the title was actually the Bastards Of Evil and their history. To me, they stole the show. The art by David Baldeon was a good fit for the book. Overall, I just don't think there was en ...more

A book so filled with good intentions and an effort to launch into something bigger, I just want to hug it and tell it that I'm proud it tried its best.

The idea's standard with a twist: Make a new team, but instead of them staying a full-blown team, the story was to unfold as an ensemble piece, with everyone getting some time on the page but working in smaller groups or completely by themselves. McKeever went to the wall for this one, and it shows. He built the foundations for something that co

This was actually a lot better than I expected. It was perfect for a quick read while lying sick on the couch and had some great characterization. The only read downside was that, being cancelled six issues in, this is probably all that will be seen of these characters for some time. This shouldn't keep people from taking a chance on this undervalued series. Like I told a friend, when I'm looking for great books with teen teams I know to go straight to Marvel.

Decent story line with the second generation of villains. Maybe I just needed more time to get into the main characters though. I just wasn't familiar with any of them which made it harder for me to just love this particular group.

Since then, Sean has written hundreds of comics for Marvel, DC Comics and other publishers, including notable runs on Sentinel, Inhumans, Mystique, Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, Gravity, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, B ...more
