Okay, so I'm going to try to keep this classy, unlike my Twisted review.

Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

My dearest Sara,

Why, oh why, do you pain me with this? Why continue on? You had it perfect. Your series was like a taco.

Pretty Little Liars was the shell to the taco, and with each book, you added something tasty to it! By the end of Wanted, you wrapped it up all nicely for me--you made a wonderful Literature Taco!

Then, you came out with Twisted and Ruthless...YOU DESTROYED MY TACO!!!!! You took it

Ruthless (Pretty Little Liars #10), Sara Shepard

It is revealed that last summer while Spencer was taking AP courses at Penn, she began taking speed pills as a way to help with studying. After being arrested by the police for possession, she arranges for Hanna to help her frame her roommate, Kelsey, as a dealer, in order for Spencer to not face charges. After landing the role of Lady Macbeth in the school play, the stress and guilt begin to take their toll on Spencer, causing her to have frequent

-Seriously. Has Sara Shepard never, ever, ever taken a course in Biology or Sex Ed before? How do you hide a 9-month long pregnancy from all of your friends and family? Spring Break is in March... and her baby was delivered by the end of summer? I know I mentioned this in the last book review

Ruthless by Sara Shepard
book 10 in the Pretty Little Liars series

Can't believe i've now finished the 10th book in the PLL series!
This particular instalment, I found a little boring, and not much was happening in any of the girls stories.
I wasn't a huge fan of the 'Kelsey' storyline, so i'm glad that's over...

Favourite Line:

So it took me ONE and a half days to read this 350 page book and almost a MONTH to finish a book I was reading before it. That's how interesting this book is. Plus it doesn't hurt that I'm Jamaican and I live in Jamaica and the pretty little liars's murder took place there ;D

You'd think after ten books the whole A is trying to get you thing is stale? Nope. The twists and turns almost give you a headache because you so desperately want to make the connection and figure out who the new A is before

Im trying to just smash out the rest of this series because I really just want to be done with them and move on with my life.

These girls... this story.. its just getting a little bit tedious. I know this story is directed at a younger audience and Im not saying Im not entertained.. its just, I cant wait to be done with these books.

Onto the next one....... 🙄☺

The girls are still dealing with the Tabitha issue and whoever new A is...much like the show, just when you think you know who it is, nope...not going to happen. As much as I enjoy reading about what the girls are getting into and who the new love interest might be, I am also getting really tired of reading these books...I can't quit now though. In fact, I just went to the library and grabbed all of the rest in the series so I can just be done with them. While there are parts that I like the ...more

I have been reading this series for years now. And the first book I found amazing. Heck, the whole original series I found pretty darn amazing, full with twists and turns, though the whole Courtney thing seemed a bit out there and I still find it confusing.

But the two books following that...

I liked this book and I will continue to read the series. But part of me just wants it to end, and that's not the best sign. But it's also addicting because I feel like I can't just stop reading. I need to
Time to check in with our resident mean girls.

In the 10th book of the Pretty Little Liars series, the girls have learned nothing. They are still putting themselves in stupid situations and just being all around horrible people. And despite being seniors and older, they still act like children and refuse to actually talk to each other. Instead, they bring up A and then lie and say that nothing is happening to them.

So what's been happening?

And so we're back. Book nine? Eight? Ten? I'm not sure, but this storyline has been pulled to within an inch of its life.

The drama and tension of the earlier books is pretty much gone, because it's expected. There will always be a random chick who comes into the girl's lives who initially they trust, then start to suspect, then have an "OMG! New A!" moment, and then realize the girl had nothing to do with it and A is still out there. All the books have ended like this.

Ruthless doesn't really

I read the first 8 books of the Pretty Little Liars series and relatively enjoyed myself. It was suspenseful, scary, and mysterious, however also a little bit risque and nothing I would allow my teenage daughter to read, Young Adult status or no. So, I decided I would give the next set of books a try (Shepard meant to end at 8, but then with all the hype surrounding the TV show, she got some fresh "ideas" and decided to give it another go. Well, she should have ended at 8. Now the books are ...more

Of course you're going to see the fangirls out there who will rate this book five stars just because its a PLL book. I will be honest, i loved all 9 books. They were full of suspense and lots of juicy secrets. This time, not so much. It read more like a story. There's no "wow" moment and no great cliff hanger. I think Sara was going to stop PLL series after the whole "Ali was really Courtney" thing but PLL got popular and Sara was paid more. Maybe she ran out of ideas. Her contract still has ...more

Took me less then a day to read this book! Once again I really enjoyed it! Plenty of twist plots characters are always developing. Really liked the ending to this novel very good. It's great that Sara Shepard is still able to captivate the readers 10 books into a series. She's met her target audience with these books the books are way better tried watching the TV show but found it was too dragged out and I didn't like the way the characters were portrayed in the show I just prefer if they didn't ...more

I give up on this crapfest series. I'll wait until she ends it to google who "A" is... I think the books have gotten consistently worse. I'm floored by the rolling exposition from previous books (I read them already, I don't need constant recap), what giant assholes the main characters are, and the product placement every line for some other designer. Not to mention the Shakespeare parallels in this installment; undeserved. I just don't get why I should care about any of them. Who. The eff. ...more
This was without doubt the 'this series has jumped the shark' book and the last one that I am going to look at. The plot has just gone a bit mental, the girls aren't just dumb bitches-they are horrible psycho bitches and I don't really care who the latest 'A' is. It has just got to that point and spoils the memory of those first eight gripping books with characters that you liked.

So what are the bitches up to now? Quick sum up with spoilers?

I loved this book just like the other books in the series. In Ruthless, Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily try once again to find out who A is. The girls believe that A is Kelsey, Spencer's roommate at a summer program at Penn the previous summer but they realized that their assumptions were wrong at the end of the book. I loved this book because the mystery kept thoroughly interested with every page. For example, the point of the book where Emily found out that Kay was Kelsey was a huge shocker to ...more

This book was so frustating, Emily was so annoying xc. Why Klaudia wants all the Aria's boyfriends? She's a whore :$. I like the end because Noel was so sweet :3

I officially have to stop reading these books. I'm finished with them. They were so good, and then, they turned into complete garbage. The pretty little liars are generally terrible people. Everything that happens to them is their own fault, and they do some really terrible things. They pretty much deserve everything that's coming to them. You'd think by now that they would have learned their lessons, but no, they keep getting more selfish, and more stupid each book.

So bottomline is Ezra is a jerk and Aria belongs with Noel hands down. So basically the girls go on vacation some shit goes down and they all fall apart and basically are not friends anymore. Why do I feel like these girls are all fake - I mean you usually dont just drop your friends like that, if you do they are not really your true friends. Seems like most of these girls are fake. Emily seriously drives me nuts. She is so obsessed with Ali/Courtney it is ridiculous. ...more

Oh, the delightful, ridiculous escapism of a Pretty Little Liars novel! I don't know what it says about me (or the rest of this series' fan base) that we like to escape to the fictitious world of Rosewood, Pennsylvania where backstabbing, deceit, and murder reign supreme. But who cares? Sara Shepard's novels are a delicious getaway to the land of the rich and miserable and these are books I've been hooked on for years.

Ruthless is the tenth installment in the series. It picks up a couple of weeks

Ali, Courtney, and Tabitha are all dead. Spencer did some naughty things over the summer, and Hanna has more confessions to make to her father.
Is A. really gone? Or has she just been waiting for the right time to strike, again?

This was a good story, but A. and her multiple reincarnations have more lives than a cat.

The story continued in this book with Spencer doing some very un-Spencer like things, and yet another mystery A. While this storyline was okay in

So... here is what I thought.

I think it's hard to keep a series running, especially one like this where there can only be so much mystery, twists, and turns before the reader gets bored or starts to suspect too early.

There were some twists, both obvious and not, and there was mystery. I really enjoyed the incorporation of Macbeth as the play Spencer is performing in and the whole issue with early acceptance to Princeton. (view spoiler)

It was good, but not great. Fairly mediocre, but not nearly as good as previous books. I think Sara is only continuing the story now to piggy back off the success of the book. It was supposed to end with the 8th book, and this one is the 10th and I am several books behind. The book was really predictable, and the secrets are getting boring and overdone. Most parts of the book are overdone. The girls are just so stupid, that I don't even feel bad for them anymore. I do love PLL, but it's time to ...more

I enjoyed this book. The only thing that bugged me was the way Spencer acted in this book, but it made me question if she is doing it on purpose or she just feels like being that way. Also, I love the new characters, it's always nice to understand the characters that you read. The suspense was there, but I felt Spencer's portrayal in this book influenced my rating. Great book! Can't wait to read the rest of the series! I recommend to the fans of PLL TV show. Can't wait, Season 6 of PLL premieres ...more

This series is proof I'm an emotional masochist. Gah...

Ok though, I'm seriously wanting A to win at this point. YOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS AND DESERVE EVERYTHING YOU GET.

Also, how does this series have 6 more books? I'm tempted just to read the wikipedia page for each book. I'm so tired of the stupid.

BUT: one of the characters actually confessed something to her father, and it was great. But not great enough to make me excited about the next book.

15+ for drug usage, sexual themes, lots of breaking
