This novel was billed under the keywords "mystery and thriller" but it was a lot more mystery and very little thriller. When Ben signs on to be a "jack-of-all-trades" on a yacht destined for Hawaii and Tahiti, he knows next to nothing about sailing or boats and must learn quickly from the captain who is not fond of him from the beginning. So there are a lot of interesting details about sailing, and the landscapes of the tropics are well-written and certainly make you want to take a vacation but

When the author approached me to read his novel I had just finished a book with a similar premise that I enjoyed and so I was receptive when this was offered.
In Better Than Ever, Again, Ben Beck, unemployed and eager to work, agrees to crew for a year on a luxury yacht. Ben quickly discovers he loves life at sea but his enjoyment of the job of a lifetime sours under the command of a unfriendly captain and crewmate. Sill he is willing to ignore their animosity, until he begins to realise that

Ben was out of work and checked the want ads daily. A promising, exciting job on a boat was listed one day...no sailor experience necessary....a little suspicious. He went for the interview and was hired for the position. After being with the owner and two of the employees, he was second guessing his decision because of their demeanor, but sailing for a year and getting a share of the boat's selling price kept him interested.

Once he started the job, the boating experience was overwhelming

Better Than Ever, Again is an interesting tale about one man and his adventure on the high seas and in Tahiti onboard a charter ship for tourists. Carl's ship is hired out and then he hopes that the tourists will turn around and invest in his ship, although Ben doesn't know anything about the later. As Ben works on the ship, he begins to learn more about Carl, Duane, Rudy and Purrette, and he begins to wonder if he is being told the truth about what is really going on.

As I read this story, I was

Better than I expected! I wasn't too sure at the beginning of this book what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! Ben works various jobs. When one ends in Idaho, he sees in the paper someone looking for help on a yacht,no experience necessary. Surrounded by a bunch of shady characters, Ben just wants to learn how to sail and to do the job he was hired for.

Ben doesn't put up with much either. When he falls in love, will he have to leave her to continue his job?

This book has a bit of a

Good, fast read. Story of a somewhat lost soul getting caught up with a gang of investors in the yacht business, the book is mainly set in Tahiti - and the descriptions are wonderful. Half action novel, half mystery novel - great book for the beach!!
