After reading the other review, I sort of feel like I was reading an entirely different book than everyone else.

Rachel, a governess who has lost the last ten years of her memory, is sent to a new assignment where the uncle of her new charge appears to know her. So initially, Timothy had no interest in helping Rachel recover her memory. I found this really confusing. He loves her, and misses her, but when he realizes she doesn't remember her, he's like oh better stay away. And it's even worse when you get to the twist at the end. Once again he's ready to abandon her.

And then all of a sudden in the ending and epilogue, it's like oh, Timothy never gave up on Rachel. Well, actually he did, about three times. There's a whole spy backstory that's never really fully explored other than in conversation and internal dialogue. I think this story had a lot of promise but it didn't really deliver.

This was a very interesting and original story about a governess who loses her memory -the last 10 years of her life. Her struggle to remember, her desire to take care for herself , her courage to move on with her life is a testament to her strength. Finding a position as a governess in a quiet, one child home seems to be the place to start, until she faced with the child’s uncle, who will not leave her alone AND knows her past that he refuses to share. This story had a lot of twists and turns, one was a complete surprise! I did think the middle of the book dragged a bit as it kept going on and on about his not sharing and her frustration. But overall a very entertaining and enjoyable read!

Style/Trope: Regency Romance, Lord and Governess, Memory Loss

Rachel wakes up after losing 10 years worth of memory and then gets placed as a governess in the house with her former lover, Timothy, who she doesn’t recognize. Overall, I didn’t feel their connection though the author kept saying time and time again how they were distracted when the other was around. It’s fine, but ultimately would not reread.

Another wonderful addition to the Storme series. Storme, a Bowstreet Runner wants to court Fanny, an aspiring reporter. Fanny agrees only if she can assist with William's cases. He agrees. Thus begins an exciting and sometimes dangerous courtship. Definitely a must-read.

I had a hard time getting through this one. I needed something to grab my attention and hold onto it and that just didnt happen early enough for me. Sorry. Usually the author is a hit or miss for me.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
