Don't write this off because it sounds silly or pointless.
The prayers in this book are powerful.
I know that they are stored up in heaven for my future husband now.
I'm so glad I read this book and gave it a chance.
Highly recommend.

I’m not married. And I pray for my future husband. Thus my reasoning behind reviewing “Praying for Your Future Husband.”

I knew from the title, what I THOUGHT I was going to get, but I was completely taken by surprise once I started reading and by the time I was done, I was thoroughly blessed.

There are 13 chapters, each one detailing qualities we as young women should keep in mind as we pray for our future husbands. Robin and Tricia each made the chapters personal by adding their experiences. The book just doesn’t lay out how we should pray for our young men, but how we should pray for ourselves. This was huge for me as I know I need to grow so much more.

I often grow impatient in my waiting. thinking the moment will never come. But I have recently been giving so much back to God and letting HIM decide the right time. I reside in peace in that decision and this book helped solidify that decision.

Filled with scripture, stories to encourage us to “stick with it”, prayers and discussion guides that would work great for small or large groups, I believe every young woman needs to read this book. You won’t know until you get there, what your prayers did. Don’t wait until tomorrow, start today.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers for my copy to review.

Every time I drive Grammy home, she asks me the same question, “Have you met a young man yet?” Each time I answer, “No,Grammy.” Then she replies, “Have you prayed about it?” My response is, “Put it on your prayer list.” Although her intentions are sweet, it still weighs on my heart. I’m thirty-one and single. I wasted six years dating the wrong guy and another two getting over him, and I gave up hope that God has a man for me. Because I lost hope, I quit praying for him like I used to do when I was in high school or college. If I prayed back then without receiving an answer, why should now be any different?

When I requested the book Praying for your Future Husband to review, I expected the book to be geared towards high school or even college-age girls. I thought it would be an interesting read that I could give to a teen girl at church. I wasn’t expecting to have my hope restored.

Each chapter of the book discusses a specific prayer. In the chapter, both Robin and Tricia share their vastly different stories, scriptures, and anecdotes from women across the country. At the end of the chapter, there are questions and space to answer. What is intriguing is that there is also a prayer for the single woman. Women often make lists of what they want in a husband (I did back in high school—God lover being the number one trait.), but we sometimes forget to pray for God to make us into a woman after His own heart, a woman who is prepared to be a wife.

This book is unique in that Robin and Tricia have different stories to share. Robin began praying for her husband and writing letters to him at a young age. Tricia was a teen mom. Because the authors have different experiences, it makes their stories and the book relevant for teen girls who are determined to stay pure, teens who have made mistakes in relationships (both physically and emotionally), and even old maids like myself.

After reading this book, I have renewed my prayer for my future husband. But more than that, I have found my hope that God, the lover of my soul, will give me the best if I leave the choice up to him.

Not long after seeing this new release, I noticed my friends singing its praises all around the internet. When I saw it was available to review, I instantly jumped at the chance. And I am so glad I did. This book was amazing--beyond my expectations. I devoured this book, drinking in the truths and encouragement that both Robin and Tricia gave to all the single women out there.

I'm only 18, so haven't lost all hope yet. ;-) But reading how I can pray--how I can minister to my future husband now--was such an encouragement. As I read all the true accounts of women who had prayed for their future husband years before they knew them, I was in awe.

Every night I watch my father tuck my little sisters into bed and then listen as he prays over them. In the prayer he asks that God protect our future husbands and keep us pure for our wedding day. When I was younger, I used to think that it was kind of singular and interesting--to pray for someone I wouldn't know for years to come. But now I am so thankful he did. And through his guidance, and the encouragement of this book, I will take up what my Dad began so long ago when he used to tuck me into bed and pray with me each night.

Praying for your Future Husband is a great book to give to any single girl who wants to do something for the husband she will one day have. Even though I do not know who I will spend the majority of my years with, it lifts my spirit and encourages me to know that I can lift him up in prayer.

Personally, I didn't notice anything that would be too much for a mature teen girl to read. With the way the world is today--with more and more broken hearts and teen pregnancies--I think this book should be a must read for young women everywhere. Not only does the book talk about praying for our future husband, but also how we can deepen and strengthen our relationships with God. Robin and Tricia did a fabulous job with making this a book whole centered on the Lord and the man He will bring to each of us in His perfect time.

PLEASE Rank My Review - Blogging For Books

Praying for Your Future Husband was a great non-fiction read! While the book is obviously about praying for your future husband, it's also about what you can do now to become the woman he'll need.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. - Psalm 27:14

Let me say, I was challenged and affected by a lot in Praying for Your Future Husband. I am not great with patience, sometimes have trouble with being content, etc. Yet those are qualities I would want my future husband to have.

So while I wait for him to come, I need to pray for both of us (my future husband and me) to grow in love, patience, kindness, etc. - and in our relationship with God. Also, I desire marriage, but if I never do get married, I have to trust that God's plan is best - because it is, even if I can't see it now.

He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. - Psalm 145:19

I really loved the "She Prayed... God Answered" sections in Praying for Your Future Husband and I also liked getting to know Tricia Goyer and Robin Jones Gunn more - I've read some of their fiction books, but this contained some of their very own personal stories.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. - Isaiah 1:18

When reading Praying for Your Future Husband, I found many of the things mentioned were things I had thought before - especially regarding trust/worry.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9

Praying for Your Future Husband was also great in the fact that if you're a believer - if you believe in the Gospel - you are new! You've been forgiven for your past, present, and future sins because of Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Overall, Praying for Your Future Husband was a wonderful read that has challenged me to both pray for my future husband and prepare my heart for his.

I definitely recommend this book!!

I read my own personal copy and was not required to review it. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

So, I have this thing.
Where I pray for my future husband.
I don't do it daily.
Or is there any kind of method to when I do actually pray for him,
But I do pray for him.
I even have this separate blog to talk to him when I feel the need to vent, or to cry, or whatever.

It's weird, but I like it.
So anyway, when I was doing my blogging for books things, I decided to check out this book ... since I sorta do it anyway, I figured I could maybe get some pointers from.

Unfortunately, I was strangely ambiguous with my feelings. I didn't like it, but I didn't not like it either.
I felt that maybe for a 20-something that has already been praying for her husband for some time, it probably wasn't the best book for me.
That is not to say it was a terrible book.
It had some amazing pointers.

The authors revealed their own stories of praying for (and eventually marrying) their husbands.
They included excerpts from other girls and women.
It would be a great study book for an older teen study...
Like 14s and up.
the book included places to write your own thoughts
as well as prayer tips and hints.
In case you couldn't come up with some of your own.

I believe that when my little sister becomes old enough
and starts to focus on such things,
I will give her the book.

Like I said,
the book wasn't for me.
But it wasn't bad.
The authors did an amazing job.
And any woman who is still searching for her 'Love'
should get her hands on this book.

Heck,
Married women should read this book too.
Because I believe that we should never stop praying for our loved ones.
Of course,
maybe instead of praying for the 'future' part,
the married ones could simply just pray for his heart.
and that he'll be understanding when your hormones go a little haywire.

and that he'll always protect you.
Y'know.
Things like that.

This book was phenomenally written.
Robin Gunn and Tricia Goyer bared their souls, and became vulnerable when they spoke of their own journeys.

I am a fan of such writing.
Beautifully written.

Is anyone else super motivated to make a journal and fill it with prayers? 'Cause I sure am! What an absolute gem of a book. I greatly admire how Robin and Tricia have come together to set a remarkable example for young women. The sound wisdom that came from years of experience and healing is unmatched. I learned so much! The book mentioned qualities that I didn't think twice about when praying for my future husband. I especially loved how they emphasised that we must pray for our change too - pray for compassion, contentment, and patience.

I know for a fact that my prayers are going to look different from now on! :') Highly recommend!

The heart behind this book is so sweet. I love the way both Robin and Tricia have come together to share their stories and their wisdom.

The concept of praying for a future husband isn't new to me. My grandmother charged me with it when I was a preteen. And this isn't the first book I've read that discusses the topic either. But I really enjoyed the focus on growing our own hearts and walking closer to Christ ourselves. It's encouraging to see that the prayers in the book are two-fold, not just for a future spouse, but also for the one praying.

And the stories of encouragement that Robin and Tricia have encountered in the lives of others is a beautiful touch. I love how each chapter had a specific focus and theme and how each story wove together with the chapter. I also got super invested in the stories unfolding for Tricia and Robin of their own personal experiences! It was almost like reading a novel at some points where I just wanted to know what happened next! But always pointed with purpose and intentionality to the wisdom of the chapter itself.

Each chapter is layered with a thread of story from one of the authors themselves, a heart talk, focus for prayer (for both you and your future hubby), an encouraging story or snippet from some other woman one of the authors have encountered, scripture, a small journaling section, and discussion questions (either for you to consider and journal solo or with a group if you'd like!).

This is a beautiful resource for young teen girls and up to strengthen your walk with Christ, be bolstered with encouragement and hope, and to challenge yourself to develop a deeper prayer life.

Content: I'd say the book is appropriate for 12+ most likely, but there are a few deeper topics touched upon like bad influences, abortion, and guys who don't always have your best at heart. Though the topics are touched with delicacy and nothing is graphic or explicit, it maybe a book to read with your daughter (or beforehand) if you want to make sure it would fit with your personal line for the younger girls.

Note: Thank you to the amazing Tricia for gifting me a copy of this beautiful and encouraging book. I very much enjoyed it! The above are my voluntary and honest thoughts ;)

Ever since I was little my Mom has prayed for my Future Husband and encouraged me to pray for him also. I prayed very irregularly, but after reading this book I have began praying every night for the man I will one day meet.

This book was a great reminder of the power of prayer, and how important it is to talk to God about the secret matters of your heart.

When I was a teenager in youth group, I used to be told “Pray for your future husband. He needs your prayers.” The advice was good, but no one ever said HOW to pray for your future husband or WHAT to pray for him.

That's where Robin Jones Gunn's and Tricia Goyer's book Praying for Your Future Husband comes in. The subtitle is “Preparing Your Heart for His” so from just the cover you know it's not all about your Prince Charming.

Gunn and Goyer have twelve chapters of things we can pray for our future husband. (Although not mentioned, if wanted you could focus on one chapter a month.) Also in the back is a list of fifty-two Scriptures with comments of how to use each of those in prayer. They did make the suggestion these be used one per week for a year.

I really enjoyed the personal stories. Robin grew up in a Christian home and had a romance like every Christian parent would dream of for their daughter. However Tricia had an abortion as a teenager, and even was a teen mom. She talked about having to leave the movie on the first date with her future husband so she could breastfeed. Anything but romantic, but that man loved her enough he eventually wanted to marry her even though their first date wasn't all roses and it made him an instant father.

The one thing I disliked was a few of the stories were hard to relate to. I saw this because I'm in my thirties, never married, and personally, to hear of a teenage boy running along a church van filled with kids while yelling “I love you” makes me roll my eyes instead of thinking what a romantic gesture. However, I realize the majority of those reading this book will not be as old as me.

I also loved the story about the purity ring made with Duct Tape that Robin's son fashioned at summer camp. For twelve years he wore Duct Tape around his ankle, repairing it when needed. He said it was a reminder of the commitment he made to stay pure. At his wedding, when he was in his late 20s, he handed his wife a pair of scissors. To me, that's much more romantic than some fourteen year old chasing a church van!

The personal stories alone are worth reading this book, but as I mentioned before, I have been told to pray for my future husband but no one had ever told me HOW. This book is a great resource not only to tell you how to do that, but to give you ideas on other ways you may pray for your future husband.

FTC Disclosure: I received a copy of the book “Praying for Your Future Husband” by the publisher. I read the entire book, and the opinions about it are mine. In no way did receiving the book for free influence my opinion.

Recently I have read the book Praying for Your Future Husband: Preparing Your Heart for His by Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer. Now this is something that I’ve been doing for years in addition to writing him letters and such. But this books really helped me to fill in the gaps with specifics. I love the stories that Robin and Tricia have woven into the book – their own stories and life experiences. Both have drastically different stories, but at the same time, that is what makes this book so special – because everyone has a different story, especially when it comes to love. But to those who waited, and to those who failed to do so, there is something in this book for you.
As you are told in the beginning of Praying for Your Future Husband, “Love begins in the heart.”
It seems like such a simple lesson – a simple statement. But it holds much truth in it. We need to be preparing our hearts as well as praying for that of our future husband’s.
Some things that this book goes into are what we need to be praying for our future husband, such as we need to pray for:
His Heart
Him to be a God lover
Patience
Understanding
Trust
Loyalty & Faithfulness
Strength
Protection
Intimacy
“The List”
Contentment
Commitment
Beautifully drawn together with powerful stories. You will not want to put this book down and it is great to keep on reference. Additionally, it will help you get into the habit of praying for your husband as it teaches you how you can pray for him and even along the way show you what you can do in your heart to prepare it for him. I really do recommend this book! Come check it out!

This book is a gem for a single woman to learn HOW to pray and WHAT to pray for in a future husband. The book's two authors, Robin and Tricia, share their real life, and love stories in each chapter that are relatable and inspiring. Tricia and Robin each share their failures, heartbreaks, and happy endings. Each chapter also includes scriptures, quotes, and real stories from other women who prayed for their future husbands and saw real results, along with discussion questions at the end of each chapter to encourage deeper thought into each subject presented. The subtitle,"Preparing your heart for his" is the theme of this book, showing the reader that through prayer and praying for other people (your future husband), you will in turn become closer to God and grow in knowing HIM. Specific items are discussed and listed for the reader to pray for, including attributes to look for in a future husband. Single women are encouraged to have faith and patience, be in prayer, and wait for what God has in store for you. This book has an enticing cover, and is easy and enjoyable to read. My twelve year old daughter also enjoyed the book, as it was appropriate for her to read too. This is a must read for any single woman, as you are never too young or too old to start praying from your heart for your future husband.

Highly recommend this book for everyone especially single ladies :)

A very beautiful poem i really loved from this book :

“A Promise Is Forever, in volume 4 of the Christy Miller Series.

Within my heart a garden grows
Wild with violets and fragrant rose.
Bright daffodils line the narrow path
My footsteps silent as I pass.
Sweet tulips nod their heads in rest,
I kneel in prayer to seek God’s best.
For round my garden a fence stands firm
To guard my heart so I can learn
Who should enter and who should wait
On the other side of my locked gate.
I clasp the key around my neck
And wonder if the time is yet
If I unlocked the gate today
Would he come in or run away?
I do not want to hold this key
Lord, will You keep it safe for me?
Then when he comes
If he’s the one
You’ll unlock the gate
Until then, I’ll wait.”

"Wow" does not even begin to describe this book. It is a well-writing, well thought out and encouraging book geared specifically to young unmarried women. Robin and Tricia share their life stories including their joys and struggles. I cried with them. It brought such emotion. I wish that I had had this book when I was a young wanna-be married young woman. While I did pray for my husband, I never had the direction that this book provides.
Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of prayer, including praying for his heart, trust, intimacy and "the list". As a mother with a young daughter, this book has opened my eyes and will help me in praying more specifically for her future husband. When she is old enough to read (she is only 3 at present) I hope that she will pick up this book and cherish it.
Another plus in this book is the discussion questions. They dig deep and at the very least make you think about things that you may have never considered before. It also has short prayers for you and your future mate.
This book is a must read for every single woman, regardless of age. Moms, you might want to look this one up too.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. Many thanks.

This book is a powerful reminder about how important prayer is. Packed full of the testimonies of the authors and of other lovely ladies, insightful questions, practical prayers, and discussion questions, this book was very impactful. Now because of this book I try to pray for my future husband every day, and I pray that he does the same for me. ❤

Content warnings: (Let's see if I can remember them...) non-descriptive talk of giving oneself away before marriage, non-descriptive talk of abortion, talk (non-descriptive) of intimacy, a mention of a prostitute, talk of kissing and such and the story of a girl who died young. There could be more that I'm missing.

This was such an encouraging and enriching read, especially coupled with other books and studies I've been enjoying! I always appreciate specific/detailed instructions, and so the practical suggestions for prayer are an excellent help! Grateful to my pastor for investing in me when I asked for some specific guidance in my prayer life. Loved (and appreciated) it so much. ♡

Praying for Your Future Husband was an EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT read! I highly...highly recommend it!

I have been praying for my future husband daily for the last couple of years, and after reading this book I'm even more convinced that all the prayers one prays for their future spouse really does bless them wherever they are in life, and it blesses you also. Prayer brings about a devotion to them before you even meet them. Plus, you begin to feel a connection, simply by praying for them. It's A-mazing!! Also, you are challenged to grow spiritually, focus on your personal relationship with God, intentionally prepare and invest in your marriage now, and pray for your own self. In the book, you see how prayer is one of the first gifts you can give to your future spouse, and as the authors assert, "gifts in which heaven participates, and gifts sent ahead before the two of you have even met. How cool is that?"

Authors Robin Jones Gunn, and Tricia Goyer, share their stories, and ways to pray for your future husband and yourself. You'll wonder why you hadn't already thought to pray for your future spouse. That's what I thought to myself when I first heard of it. Trust me, it's not too late to start.

This book will challenge you not only to pray for your future husband and for yourself, but it will remind you that the greatest romance and most beautiful love story ever is Christ and His Bride, the Church. You will be reminded that we are incredibly loved by God. A God who wants your heart, and has a perfect plan for you, even in the area of love and romance.

Again, I highly recommend this book, specifically to every single Christian woman!! I hope you get to read it and be blessed!

After winning this book and getting it for free, I read it after receiving it. I have to say I wasn't actually disappointed in the book. It pretty much met my expectations. It is written by a couple of women. Married women. They basically tell you that you need to pray before you start dating, again after you've started dating, and then again later. If you're a Christian woman then the chances of you already praying are probably quite large. If not, then prayer should become more of a priority. This book is basically taking stories of several women and putting them together in a compilation sort of way with basic instructions in between the stories. One woman didn't live as a Christian and was disappointed when the men she dated weren't exactly what she was looking for. Surprise, surprise. The book is basically just common sense wording and situations bound together and sold. It isn't spectacular at any rate. Pick it up to read if you don't have anything else, but I wouldn't purchase it to read in general.

"Praying for Your Future Husband" is an amazing book. It is written by Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer. Robin Jones Gunn is the author of the Christy Miller series and in those books it talks about praying for your future husband and other similar things so I knew that this book would probably be pretty good. It definitely was and didn't disappoint me at all! I've prayed for my future husband off and on for several years, but never really knew what I should actually pray about specifically. This book helped a lot. Each chapter talks about a different aspect of what to pray for. It doesn't just tell you what to pray about concerning him but also what to pray about concerning yourself. I liked that it incorporated praying not just for your future husband but for yourself. I found this book to be both helpful and encouraging. This is a book I would recommend to all single girls. Whether you read it by yourself, with a friend (like I did), or in a Bible study group this is really one you should read! I plan to re-read "Praying for Your Future Husband" later this year.

Clearly written for an audience of high school and early college young women. Yet, despite the fact that I'm well beyond both I found some useful insight, scripture and guidance about praying for a spouse. I had a couple theological problems with this book - the biggest being the idea that a spouse would "complete" me rather than simply "compliment" me. I think the idea of "completion" being found in any human being (or for that matter object, or career, or idea, etc.) is both dangerous and unbiblical. That would be my biggest knock against the book though. Overall, useful and I appreciated that it included prayers for the young woman as well - so it wasn't just treating God like a genie in a lamp.

This book has really inspired me. And its not the relationships thing and getting married that did affect me because I believe there's more to life than just marriage to be the huge goal. Its the power of prayer and the faith of these people that really did get to my heart. The idea of committing yourself to the right person not only physically but also emotionally. Following God's lead and consulting Him about someone you had met, and breaking up if God made you feel it's not right. Praying all the time. Being ready to live the life God prepared for you no matter how its like. Now thats real strength and faith. Thats my only big goal: to have that kind of intimate relationship with God. And this book was a start to achieve this goal.

**I've only read the first 50 pages and I'm so inlove with this book and all it offers!! This is worth so much more than FIVE stars and EVERY woman should read it. Such ENCOURAGEMENT, such wonderful prayers, such wisdom and heart in these pages. The prayers, testimonies, scriptures and quotes from this book will never expire and are utterly precious.**

Wow, what a wonderful book! It's easy to understand, filled with great testimonies, scriptures, prayers and even discussion questions. I will treasure this book always and continue going through the prayers/scriptures. Love what these authors put together in this book and so blessed by what they shared.

I've wanted to read this book for a long time, just because so many of my Christian blogger friends have loved it. I'm so grateful I read this when I did, because I was at a point in my life where I was so desperate to find someone that I was looking in all the wrong places. This book helped me to realize the aspects of my own life I need to work on first, before I can even consider thinking of who will complete me. Definitely a read for anyone who has yet to meet their future Mr. Right!

It may sound corny, it may seem out of date, but a girl starts thinkin g early and she might as well be smart.Boys are great and they say a lotta things. A smart girl knows what to do and if she didnt hear it from Moma she can here it right here!
