This would make a great introductory text to anyone interested in the mainstream of conspiracy theories. The beginning covers the basics of science and religion and the inherent faults of both. Mr. Horn is well indoctrinated to both mindsets to give them fair time. He then sets a plausible hypothesis for an alternative view of reality.
While he may not convince you he does a respectable job of laying the ground work and providing references for those who wish to research further.
One of the reasons I liked this book more than many conspiracy theory books is that it provides a potential for a positive outcome. I feel self-empowered rather than thinking the whole world is conspiring against me and that there's nothing I can do about it.
I've been reading a lot of conspiracy books lately and this will do it for a while. I am setting out on a goal to find ways to empower myself and affect change in the world.
I hope you will consider putting down your diversions of fantasy and fiction for a while and consider what might truly be going on around you.
AN ‘EXTRATERRESTRIAL ORIGINS’ BOOK THAT RELIES ON DUBIOUS SOURCES
Author Arthur David Horn wrote in the Introduction to this 1994 book, “This book is about the truth, as I understand it… it is about the truth of our origins and the meaning of our lives here on … Earth. To a large extent, this document is about my own personal quest for truth, with an emphasis upon revealing the myths currently being perpetuated in every belief system of humankind, both secular and religious. I will demonstrate that virtually every current belief system that delves into the origins and development of humanity is full of untruths and distortions that serve to keep the reality of human origins concealed. I have discovered, in addition, evidence of an enormous machination of long standing to keep humankind ignorant of its true origins in order that the human species on Earth can be controlled and ‘used.’ Who is responsible for this conspiracy on humankind.
“As I began to search in earnest for the truth of human origins a few years ago, I met again and again with the extraterrestrial, or ET, phenomenon… it soon became obvious to me that … ETs had much, if not everything to do with human origins and development. Furthermore, I found strong evidence that groups of regressive ETs, always with the help of a few humans, have conspired and are conspiring to keep the knowledge of the ET influences in human evolution hidden from humankind. I discovered that the principal information that these regressive ETs have distorted and concealed, is the spirituality of humans. They do this to keep humankind from spiritually evolving to the point where their own dark influences and imprints would no longer have any effect upon humankind. I will demonstrate that spiritual truths have been distorted in all world religions…” (Pg. xv)
Later, he adds, “The message of this book is ultimately a very happy one, as I believe that in the next decade or two, humankind will have a magnificent opportunity for extremely rapid spiritual evolution toward the Light. On the other hand, apparently much of humankind is not quite ready for the great spiritual leap, and may suffer much hardship as we approach this period of rapid and great change.” (Pg. xviii)
He recounts, “In the summer of 1989… I experienced my first spiritual transmission, or channeling session…. here was this supposedly subconscious personality who seemed to know all about me… I finally had to trust my own experience and I began to comprehend that this was a separate, non-physical entity that had addressed me. This experience had a profound influence on my life. The very existence of an entity beyond our three dimensions, I reasoned, would cause my Darwinist -anthropological belief system, on which I based my life, to become hopelessly inadequate as an explanation of human existence.” (Pg. xxiv)
He explains, “I have only used four esoteric sources in writing the book, one of which is not a result of channeling. I use esoteric sources primarily to gain insights and information into ancient human history… every one of the few esoteric sources used here corroborates, to a large extent, the few ancient historical sources of human origins and existence that are available.” (Pg. xxvii-xxviii)
Later, he explains, “As mentioned… esoteric information will only be used here if it seems to fit what historical data we have. One such esoteric source is found in the book, ‘The Prism of Lyra: An Exploration of Human Galactic Heritage,’ by Lyssa Royal and Keith Priest. The book is the result of insights, deductive reasoning and channeling by Lyssa Royal…” (Pg. 68)
He says of Billy Meier, “Wendelle Steven, a UFO researcher… conducted a lengthy investigation of Billy Meier, and because convinced that his contacts with the Pleiadians were genuine and valuable. Mr. Stevens has provided the best documentation published to date of the Billy Meier phenomenon, and the messages the Pleiadians and their allies have given through Mr. Meier, in four books.” (Pg. 84)
He acknowledges, “The archaeologists I have known are hard-working … people and… generally have high integrity, although I feel their views on the subject of the rise of civilization are quite mistaken. Nevertheless, their views and the data they’ve accumulated should be given some review and treated with respect.” (Pg. 108)
He admits, “we do not believe the ancient Sumerian and other Mesopotamian stories are ‘absolutely true’ history. These stories that have come to us through thousands of years of oral tradition and writing are bound to be somewhat distorted by the Anunnaki. But, I feel these ancient stories are probably as close as we’ll come to the truth today and Zecharia Sitchin’s translations and interpretations of these fragmentary texts are, in my opinion, the best available.” (Pg. 113)
He asserts, “I am not interested in trying to convince anybody of the veracity of UFOs and ETs because, as far as I am concerned, readers that do not believe in UFOs are not ready for this book!... I’m simply not interested in convincing anybody of the veracity of UFOs.” (Pg. 184)
He suggests, “Let us move to a source that might help explain the secrecy and duplicity of the American Government. William (Bill) Cooper is a former member of the United States Naval Intelligence Service… Mr. Cooper, having a very high security clearance, had access to much top secret material, which revealed the U.S. government’s secret involvement with an ET species… In 1991, Cooper published … his book ‘Behold a Pale Horse. Since some of the information Cooper relates is derived from sources he cannot divulge, and from published sources which he cannot vouch for, he presents the chapter in his book concerning the secret government as hypothetical.” (Pg. 194-195)
Later, he adds, “Bob Lazar, a physicist who claims to have worked on a flying disk project for the secret government near Las Vegas, Nevada, believes that alien telepathic capability is a technological development on their part, as well.” (Pg. 209)
He also notes, “I review another, quite recent version of the ‘true’ life and teachings of Jesus that has a decided ET slant. This book is entitled, ‘The Talmud of Jmmanuel’… which claims to be the true testament of Jesus. This book claims that the man we call Jesus was conceived in vitro by benign Pleiadians… and implanted in Mary’s womb.” (Pg. 305)
He concludes, “We congratulate all of you for incarnating at this time. This is a great time to be alive---a great time to commit to learn and evolve. We wish all of you love and bliss as we pass through the coming drama/Dharma.” (Pg. 354)
This book will mostly appeal to ‘Ancient Astronaut’ believers who have a strong ‘New Age’ focus.
