Amazingly good book. Everyone should read it, it fills vast voids in my knowledge left by 9 years of History lesson up to examination at 16.

The format is spot on. You get a double page spread for each topic. So the whole Persian empire, two pages with a load of pictures. Easy to read, interesting to look at and exactly the right amount of detail to give you the back ground knowledge you actually need.

If you want a fun and quick way to get a grand sweep global history, get just this book. If you want a deep understanding of current global political affairs, start with this book. If you want to get it for a history obsessed kid, do. If you want to keep up with that kid, get one for you as well.

A Great cliff notes of world hsotory.

Wow! This book was amazing. There were so many things I loved! I loved learning about the history of Islam. I liked seeing how things related to and affected each other. I liked the relatively unbiased way Mr. Morris told the history. There were many visuals on each page, helping me to understand things better. I definitely have to read it like four more times to wrap my head around all of it! I definitely recommend that loves of history and visual learners read this!
