Written in the style of "Going on a Bear Hunt", these children set off to find a present for the baby. They have to go through a forest of Christmas trees, a herd of hungry reindeer, a crowd of carol singers, and a glittering toy store. In the end, the children find the perfect present and have to go back through all their adventures to reach home and put the present under the tree.

This is so cute and fun! I love the classic "bear hunt" style that has been reimagined for Christmas. I won't give away the special ending, but it's really quite clever. This book absolutely has to be read/sung/chanted out loud, and it is a complete delight!

I love the cartoony illustrations! The colorful art style is perfect for festive cheer, and it captures the attention of little readers.

There is also a QR code that leads to a link to the audiobook. So you can read along with the narrator, and there is some music and sound effects included with the story. However, the text is not sung or chanted. It's just read out normally. I was a little disappointed in the audiobook. I thought it would be more musical.

It was only a matter of time before some clever author decided to put a new holiday-themed slant on the classic "We're Going on a Bear Hunt." In this particular version, three youngsters leave home in search of a present. Readers won't be sure what sort of present or presents they want or for whom the gift is intended until the very end. Along the way, though, their journey is made more challenging as they face bristling Christmas trees, reindeer, and even melodious carolers. Each time they find a way to move past these possible detours and reach their intended destination. The repetitive language and expressive, colorful digital--I think--artwork adds to the delights of reading this one aloud to an elementary classroom. The colors are so vibrant that it would be impossible for any reader or listener to remain disengaged.

I used to work in an elementary public school and I had trouble finding secular Christmas books to read aloud to students. This one is fantastic for that niche. It parodies “going on a bear hunt” which most children know. The books would be great paired together (or just sing the bear hunt song with actions before reading present hunt). As I read the book, I was thinking the illustrations were better than the story. They are very eye-catching and my 7 month old granddaughter was looking at the colors with me. She often just listens when I read to her. Then I got to the climax and laughed and it got even better at the end. The story Is as good as the illustrations. I listened to the audiobook online. The beeping and pause for page turning interfere too much. It’s much better enjoyed live.

In this Christmas twist on "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" rhyme, three children leave home to search for a present. On their way, they encounter Christmas trees, reindeer, and carol singers until finally reaching a toy store. With a nod to the original rhyme, the children select a bear for the baby who was at home. Sweet! The large, colorful illustrations and bouncy repetitive text will make this a fun book to share!

Such a charming and creative take on a classic! If you know a toddler who loves "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" and you need a Christmas gift idea, this is it! I personally would've called the trees evergreen trees instead of Christmas trees, but I would still add this title to our home library.

Not quite sure why they couldn't have gone around the carolers. Or why they would be scared to go buy a present. But it's still cute and kids would like it.

I love the bright colors! Also, I like that it's Christmassy without Jesus or Santa, which helps me feel more comfortable reading this at outreach.
