February 28, 2013AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! WHY do they wait a year? I mean, sure, she has to write it, but I think that by the time she had DLV published, she was almost finished with DLL. I am going to DIE and then go crazy (in that order) waiting for this book!! I hope she ends up with Ben. I don't like Adam all that much. I mean, after the stunt he pulled in the second book? I would NEVER go back. Ben, I get his reasons. His girlfriend died, he almost lost Camelia in every book, so he's beyond wary. I don't get why she can't just admit to herself that she's in love with Ben and Adam, but she loves Ben in a different way with a different intensity. I REALLY hope she picks Ben.

I was a bit disappointed with this book, especially since it's the last book in the series. *MILD SPOILERS AHEAD WARNING**
Some of my biggest problems had to do with the "love triangle" going on between Camelia, Ben and Adam. The whole series was this drama filled relationship, push-pull, thing with Camelia and Ben. And then Adam came along and was even more drama, even though he was this awesome guy. So in this book, all of a sudden Adam starts being not so perfect (which is weird because up until this point, his character didn't have a single flaw) and she realizes what we all already knew and that was she loved Ben, not Adam. So her and Adam break up and all of 20 minutes later, she bones Ben and they're back in love. I wasn't super happy with this. I mean, yay for Ben but there was soooo much drama in their relationship, I kinda wanted a little more of a reunion, or for Adam to at least fight a little harder for their relationship or something. He was just like "It's not really working. You're too sad", She was like "Yup. I agree. You're not Ben." and then Ben came over a few minutes later and was like "I totally love you" and she was like "Me too. Let me rub your tattoo." And then he was like "I don't want to be your rebound" and she was like "Don't worry" **boning commences**. It was just so... emotion-less or drama-less. I just figured I wanted this reunion that's taken 5 books to build to be a bit more climactic. I was either bored or gagging at the cheesiness of it all.
I also hate that every. single. book int his series is exactly the same! Same basic plot. Someone gets stalked/taken/killed/something. Camelia makes some pots. She gets wound up in the story and manages to get beat up/taken/something as well (somehow she always finds the bad guy and doesn't think to take a cop with her). Ben saves the day. The end.
Overall, I wish there was more action/drama with this. I knew what was going to happen because the same thing happens in every book. I knew she was going to dump Adam for Ben because all of a sudden Adam was this asshole guy and she was having sex dreams about Ben and telling everyone how fantastic he was. Sigh. Disappointed.

I think this is the best book iv ever read, I have read and re-read this series in not ever 2 days. In the last book(deadly little voices) I HATED the ending! she should never have to acctually think about who she wants to be with it's obviously Ben but why can't she see that in the last book. I just don't get it!?!?! URGGGGGG its killing me!!

I'm just going to cut and paste all the texts I've been sending the bestie whilst reading this book....
• can we talk about the fact that Camelia thinks Ben isn't good for her? I mean wtf?
• Adam is so cliché it makes me want to vomit.
• BEN!!
• Adam left after he was all "I only wanna be with you when you're happy" and C was all "thats unrealistic my life is cray cray" and he was like "call me when you're less emo" and then Ben came back and spent the night in Camelia's bed. BOOM.
• I'm getting all weepy over C's dad. he is so sweet with his videos and reading dancing chicken books.
• she hit her in the head with a shovel and she's still coming at her?? who is she? the terminator?!
• BEN!!
• gaaah love overload!!

Σκεφτόμουν σοβαρά να του βάλω 2 αστεράκια, αλλά είπα να φανώ καλή και να του την χαρίσω. Βασικά, εκνευρίστηκα, και αυτό δεν αλλάζει, ό,τι βαθμολογία και να δώσω. Ναι μεν την περίμενα την κατάληξη αυτή, δεδομένης δε της εποχής όπου κυκλοφόρησε το βιβλίο, αλλά η Stolarz θα μπορούσε να είχε προσπαθήσει λίγο περισσότερο, τόσο ως προς το χτίσιμο της πλοκής της -που λίγο-πολύ ήταν ίδια σε όλα τα βιβλία της σειράς-, όσο και ως προς το χτίσιμο των χαρακτήρων της, τους οποίους αλλοίωνε ή αναβάθμιζε κατά πως την βόλευε. Αναμενόμενη η επιλογή της Καμέλια, κι αν έστω αυτή είχε μείνει πιο πιστή στην προσωπικότητα που μας είχε παρουσιάσει σε προηγούμενα βιβλία της σειράς (βλέπε π.χ. το 2ο), θα μπορούσε όχι μόνο να έχει κάνει την ανατροπή, αλλά και να μας προσφέρει κάτι το εντελώς διαφορετικό.

Deadly Little Lessons is a satisfying conclusion to the Touch series. The story starts with a bang, with Camelia accidentally discovering information that turns her life upside down. In trying to deal with her problems she discovers the case of a missing girl, a girl with whom she has a lot in common with. Camelia immediately gets sucked into trying to find out what happened to her and the premonitions she gets as a result of that really start to interfere with her daily life. It gets to a point where Camelia starts to wonder whether she'll ever be able to make art that wasn't linked to her psycometric abilities. This is the biggest case in Camelia's life. Through solving it she comes to a lot of realizations that really help her deal with current issues in her life as well as the concerns she has about her future.
As far as the mystery aspect of the book goes I think the author has truly outdone herself this time. The premonitions Camelia got were intense and the chapters told from the missing girl's point of view were chilling. The things the kidnapper had her do and the motivation behind his actions gave me goose bumps. It was like watching an episode of Criminal Minds (one of my favorite). I loved how seemingly random things in the beginning turned out to be pieces of a larger puzzle in the end.
I've always disliked Camelia's tendency to isolate herself when there's a problem in her life. I understand her reasoning behind it, but she has an amazing support system so it was frustrating for me when she didn't lean on it. Instead she only confided in her loyal friends at the last possible moment when she had no other choice. Which also made this book slightly boring in the beginning since I spent most of the time in the company of just her inner thoughts. I was also bothered by her often rash and impulsive behavior which made her woefully unprepared for a lot of things that happened and I feel like sometimes things would have gone differently I she would have just stopped for a second and thought about what she was about to do. Not to mention that she often came across as deranged to other people when she made no sense whatsoever.
Even though at the end of the previous book Camelia and Adam became a couple, for which I was very excited and happy about, Ben was never far from her mind. And when Adam failed to understand and comfort her in those trying times, Ben became an even more prominent figure in her thoughts. So it was no big surprise to see how that situation unraveled at the end, but I am happy about it.

OMG! can not wait to read this! i REALLY hope she ends up with Ben, i cant really trust Adam and its tough to think she does. read the 2,3, and 4 book in a day..well finished at 2:30 in the morning. best series, dont want to wait till december<3333

Laurie Stolarz never ceases to amaze me.
When I opened up her first book in the series, I was so deeply attached to each and every character. After each passing book my heart sunk, awaiting the release of the next one, and arriving at my doorstep.
I have to admit, I pre-ordered Deadly Little Lessons, and actually hesitated to read it for a few weeks, only because I didn't want this heart-wrenching series to end. Today (Sunday the 6th of January) I finally picked up the book at 1pm and read it without any breaks until 5pm.
Words cannot express the ups and down in this book and how much I loved the ending. Everyone from beginning to end wanted Camellia and Ben to stick together, with Adam and a few other boys in the mix, I never thought the two would reunite, always just a lingering suspension they possibly might. The story line for the last book was nothing less but beautiful, stunning, clever, and most of all leaving all her readers happy beyond belief.
When I began to find the connection between the name Neal Moche's name and Camellia's, I was literally mind blown, I love when authors have the amazing ability to sneak something like this into such a masterpiece.
Because I've been reading these books since the beginning, I found myself to become emotionally attached to each one, feeling the anger and sadness within each and every chapter. So with that being said, I did cry tears of happiness at the end of this book, all the puzzles finally making sense and each relationship, even between Camellia, Wes, and Kimmy coming together. My heart goes out to Stolarz for creating such beautiful pieces of art and keeping all her readers captivated with every word.
I'm very happy to say that each one of these books stand up proudly on my shelf.
This was the single best series of books I have ever read. I appreciate everyone who read this review and hopefully, all who loved Stolarz's series agrees!

My favorite cover by far. And after reading that description, I'm actually kind of glad that I didn't get DLV until the other day or I would have gone ballistic, knowing that the next book won't be released in a year! Especially after how that ending left spazzing, WHHHY!?
But, NEAL? WHAT? Team Ben! Forget Adam.
Edit: Some minor spoilers (though the ending is so predictable, there's really nothing to spoil. But we'll cover that later.)
I absolutely adore you Mrs. Stolarz. So much to the point where I'm going to let this little mistake slide. Even though this is the 5th and supposedly last book to series that has drawn on for far too long, I don't feel satisfied. I can still walk around a room and have what seems like thousands of questions left with no answers. So I'm a bit disappointed in the ending.
First off, I understand that "write what you know" is what drives a ton of writers. Yet, after 5 books, it was entirely too easy to figure out from the start what had happened. The blog? Knew who it was. The lessons? We all knew who they were coming from but this time it they just felt oddly placed and didn't flow as well. The crime that had hardly any background to it as to why it occurred? Ben would save her like he always does, yada yada yada.
Plus, Camelia? I will always love you, but I REALLY wanted to slap you across the face for well, basically the whole entire book. You dragged it on with Adam, giving an innocent guy false belief, when you knew damn well it was over. But you don't even have time to mourn it until you run off into Ben's arm (actually more like rub his tattoo) and everything's suddenly okay! You run away to Rhode Island to "enroll" in some art classes, when it was all just a cover up for the girl. You disappointed Spencer and made yourself look like a fool in front of everyone (but it turns out everyone's in love with her...what was that about?). You act reckless to the point where your own best friend has to follow you and how do you repay him? You steal his keys countless times and run off on dangerous journeys, without the police and no thought that someone might actually care. I'm starting to wonder if there's any logic injected inside that head of yours.
And the whole crisis with Alexia? It'd be an understatement to say we're left WAAAY too much in the dark. There were so many unanswered questions formatted in the form of "it doesn't matter" or "it's all for the better, honey" that I was just ready to stop right there and throw the book at some bonfire (Okay, I'm not really that evil but we get the point, right?).
If there turns out to be an unexpected sixth book, I'm not a big enough to person to not gloat, "I TOLD YOU SO!". Although, I'm not sure if I want to see such a great series get deteriorated a bit more though with the same damn plot with different people. It's like Mockingjay all over again...
So let's all have a little moment of silence as we all mourn the loss of a series that started out wonderfully and just kinda crash and burned.

Deadly Little Lessons
is the fifth book in the Touch series. For me, it wasn’t the strongest book. I was a little disappointed actually with this being the last book and all. I still feel like there is no growth for Camelia. Kimmie and Wes on the other hand move on to bigger and better things. They both grow a lot in this book and find out whom they want to be. Camelia seems to still be stuck.
In this book Camelia learns a dark secret her parents have been keeping from her. I won’t reveal what it was. I don’t want to spoil it. But I was disappointed mostly with this part of the book. I wanted it explored more. I expected more answers to how this came about and why. I was left with more questions than answers. It wouldn’t have bothered me as much if this wasn’t the last book in the series.
After the dark family secret is revealed Camelia is in a desperate need to get away. She escapes to a summer art program in Rhode Island. She doesn’t pick this place on accident. She has been drawn to a missing person’s case of Sasha Beckerman, who lives in the area. There are signs the teen has run away, but Camelia is sure she can hear the girl crying and that there is more to the story. Eager to help this girl and try to forget her problems, Camelia engulfs herself into finding the girl.
Camelia has been stuck in this love triangle all through these books and it has been quite annoying to say the lease. I had liked Adam, even with the stunt he pulled in the second book. But the author completely made him unlikable in this book when she made him come off as insensitive to Camelia’s feelings. Then there is still Ben, who I still don’t like. The love interests were a waste of time for me in this book. I would have liked if the story focused more on Camelia and the drama she was having at home.

After the dark family secret is revealed Camelia is in a desperate need to get away. She escapes to a summer art program in Rhode Island. She doesn’t pick this place on accident. She has been drawn to a missing person’s case of Sasha Beckerman, who lives in the area. There are signs the teen has run away, but Camelia is sure she can hear the girl crying and that there is more to the story. Eager to help this girl and try to forget her problems, Camelia engulfs herself into finding the girl.
Camelia has been stuck in this love triangle all through these books and it has been quite annoying to say the lease. I had liked Adam, even with the stunt he pulled in the second book. But the author completely made him unlikable in this book when she made him come off as insensitive to Camelia’s feelings. Then there is still Ben, who I still don’t like. The love interests were a waste of time for me in this book. I would have liked if the story focused more on Camelia and the drama she was having at home.
I liked the book, but I wanted to love it. Still, it’s a series I enjoyed.

I absolutely love this book! Again, it's obvious because I absolutely adore Laurie Stolarz! She really is my author and can keep me interested in a book and not let me get bored. The way Camelia is conflicted between Ben and Adam is exciting because you can really is feeling for Ben. What I don't understand how Adam never noticed that when he was around Camelia that she was lost. Her mind was trailing to Ben all the time. If I was a guy, I would notice that my girlfriend was thinking of other guys.
I really don't think that Adam and Camelia was a good match in the first place. He doesn't get her, understand her the way Ben does. Yeah, okay, Ben has this touch power like thing going on and he understands in a second. Ben doesn't need to touch Camelia to know what's going on. He already knows. Adam just wants everything to be perfect. He wants to be together, get married, have kids and just let every problem go. With Camelia's parents and her being adopted. I would want to talk about it and I wouldn't let that go.
The fact that both Ben and Camelia was working on the same case from opposite ends was seriously amazing. I never even came up with that until the end. The "Neal Moche" thing was kind of cliché though, I have to admit. But I like the twist in the end. I really couldn't stop smiling when Ben finally pronounced that he loved Camelia. Life for Camelia doesn't seem to ever get seem to get easier, even after she found out about her aunt having the same abilities and she was hoping when Aunt Alexia stayed with them it could give her some answers. Her love life too was on the rocks as she was still very much in love with Ben , but was in a relationship with Adam- whom she did care for but wasn't in love with on the same level as Ben who was away in New York getting some space and time away. In Deadly Little Lessons , Camelia discovers that she is adopted and that her real mum is actually Aunt Alexia which makes more sense that she got the ability via a direct bloodline and genetics rather than skipping generations as her mum - Alexia's sister doesn't have the same ability. I was hoping for more information on her biological parents - maybe something more about her father as it touches briefly on the past. Camelia seems to be drawn to a cold case of a girl Sasha and this leads her to the Rhode Island School of Design ,where Sasha attended and went missing. With the help and guidance of a blog she has discovered run by a man named Neal Moche - Camelia will help to not only solve this case but in the process discover more about herself as a person and a recollection on who she wants in her live and the roles that they play. Though I am Team Adam in this series , I am happy that she ended with Ben - as he is right for her and since they both have the touch ability - they can help and understand one another better and together they make a brilliant team of crime solvers. If you love stories about teens with special abilities and solving crimes / teen spy novels then Laurie Faria Stolarz series "Touch" is for you.

This series never fails to keep me guessing, I love the mystery aspect of every story & the weaving in of psychometry. I always felt like Camelia didn't fight enough for Ben & just ended up with Adam. I am so glad that she actually spent some time trying to figure things out & do what she needed to do for herself. Adam is a sweet guy, but it's obvious that Camelia belongs with Ben, they just get each other & she was completely missing that with Adam. I loved the scenes between her & Ben, I only wish there had been more. There was a crazy revelation for Camelia in this one that led her to some interesting soul searching. The mystery was creepy as always & still managed to surprise me. As far as I know this is the last book, which is sad because I love the series (I would always be up for more books :)). I have really enjoyed the series as a whole and recommend it if you love mysteries with a dash of romance.

And when I read that part when we find out Neal is Ben? I physically fell off my bed. No joke. I have the bruise to prove it, since I fell on a box. Literally freaked out.

This series has kept me in such suspense since the first book with who Camelia is going to end up with. I'm very relieved to finally know who that is, plus he is my favorite character. I'm very happy with this book, which has turned out to be my favorite in the series. Finally, she is with her soulmate. It was the perfect way to end the series.

I was super happy when this arrived at my house I started it straight away and didn't stop until the end. I have always loved this series and what a way to end it. I love Ben even tho for most of the series I was team Adam. I can't wait to see what Laurie writes next.

Best of the series. Completely bummed out that she isn't writing more in the series. Camelia's Aunt said something to her towards the end of the book suggesting something like major and now I really must know how this is all going. But all-in-all, I really did like it.

After a year of waiting, here it is. It was okay. A little disappointing, I guess. I really love this series and I was expecting something really big to happen to Camelia. The ending turned out flat for me. There were also many things that weren't given attention in this book. The thing with Tommy's not enough for me. It lacks something as exciting as the action in the earlier books. Uhm, it turned out a bit easy for Camelia and Ben. They haven't done much, I think.
The thing with Alexia's still confusing for me. I wish she was given uhm, I don't know.. A story I guess. Why did she give Camelia away? Who is Camelia's father? What happened between him and Alexia? How did Camelia end up being with her current mom and dad? Why is their mother like that? Hmn, it wasn't clarified that much. Also the thing with their powers.. Where did it really come from?
There was action but it wasn't that exciting. It was actually a bit slow for me and I was really itching to find out what will happen that I end up reading this a bit faster. But the idea that Ben and Camelia end up together was great for me. It's just that the thing with Adam is a bit sad. I know he doesn't understand Camelia the way that Ben does but it just ended like that. I'm happy that Adam ended it though because he deserves better than someone who doesn't really see him as the way he is. She always thinks of Ben and it's unfair. Her dream about Ben was good but even if it was just a dream, I don't like her doing things like that to Adam. Then again, I want to know what Adam and Ben really feels. I just wish there's some story written from their perspective. I want it to be entirely how Adam and Ben feels for Camelia.
Camelia became a little selfish and reckless. She goes on doing things without thinking about the others. Good thing she realized how lucky she is with her parents. She also takes her friends for granted. Kimmie and Wes are just the best. You can never have someone better than them. They're just there for her no matter the things that Camelia did.
Overall, I was looking for something more. I still like this though. And now I'm a bit lost because I finished another series. Where do I go next? :P

I am a huge Laurie Stolarz fan, ever since I was in middle school. So, I'm a dedicated reader, and it's been sort of a tradition every year at Christmas time, to read the latest Touch book. I was a little annoyed at the fact that she wrote five books, four to me is pushing it but FIVE. Totally crazy. Anyways, I feel more like the book was a 3.5 but out of love for Laurie and her books I put a four.
Anyways, the book was in true Laurie fashion. You read the book though Camelia's point of view adding occasional clues from the psycho or the person being stalked and/or kidnapped. The storyline felt a little overused after four previous books but it wasn't terrible. We all knew she'd find Sasha, and that Ben would save her (Camelia) when she was about to die. Oh, and that her and Ben would end up back together. Thank God, right? Because honestly if Laurie had left it any other way, I feel fans would turn on her. Besides everyone knew that Camelia and Adam's relationship was built on a lie and they weren't meant to be.
The only thing that was kind of a surprise was finding out that Alexia was actually her mother. I mean it has been hinted at, and I mean who wouldn't suspect? Both having the power and all. So, that was the only real "shocker" But I felt that was left kind of unresolved, I mean not with her parents but with Alexia. Like you're left wondering, does she remember that Camelia's her daughter? And will Alexia ever snap out of crazyville?
The other thing that bugged, was that you never truly know why Tommy help Sasha captive. Especially since he died but I felt it was just sort of like, "Yeah, he died, but his stepmom was crazy too! So, it was all because of his childhood" Like I want an explanation, a reason, a hint, something! Oh, and the whole Wes thing. I mean, yes, we all knew he was gay but what happens when he goes back to Freetown? Living with his dad who hates him? I felt many things were just left unresolved. At the time of reading this book, I did not know that it was part of series. It did not seem out of place, or make me lost while reading it. Deadly Little Lessons Is a book about a young girl in her junior year of high school. She has the power to be able to read minds in a way, she can hear people who are in danger, and she tries to save them. In the beginning of the book she finds out that her mother is not her real mother, her aunt is. Her aunt also shares her power of reading people's minds. When sculpting clay, Camelia gets visions, and hears people who need help. In particular she hears this one young girl that went missing. She wants to help her because she went through the same situation as Camelia. Camelia gets accepted to a summer college art class near the other girl's home. Camelia is forced to find the other young girl when the police don't believe her suspicions. She stays with her beliefs about the clues, and with the help of two friends she tries to find the young girl, and keep her grades up.

Book 5 and conclusion to the “Touch” series. Camelia has finished her junior year of high school but has learned some disturbing news. To give herself some space, she applies for a summer pottery camp at a college in Rhode Island. At the same time, a young girl's disappearance has caused Camelia's psychometry talents to affect her pottery designs and Camelia is convinced that she can help find Sasha. All the while she is also struggling with conflicting feelings for Ben and Adam. Without having read the first 4 books in the series, I was able to follow the plot and characters with no problem. I'm still not sure if that is because the author did such a skillful job filling in the back story or if everything was predictable enough to make it unnecessary. Regardless, fans of the series will find this a satisfying conclusion with all story lines seemingly tied up.

I loved this series when it began, but, frankly, I've grown tired of the repetitive plot lines and conflicts. While the story in and of itself wasn't bad, I've found I no longer love the characters. Usually Stolarz writes beautiful suspense, the kind of suspense that has readers biting fingernails and staying up all night. Unfortunately, this suspense just wasn't present in Deadly Little Lessons. Overall, a disappointing read.

wow, best of the series. Amazing ending.
The best part of this series was really reading all the things that Camelia goes through and who and what she becomes after it all. She's amazing in her maturing and growth and her ability to embrace her ability.
and by far the best was her growth in what she wants. Finally defining what she wants out of life and what she is willing to accept. This is her hardest task and her biggest growth yet.
