Apparently I liked this book enough to buy ten of them. I must've liked it. Damned if I can recall why.

Surprisingly funny, punchy, and horny novel. It read like an old serial, every few pages, our parrot would find himself in a new scrape (first in the jungle with other parrots, then with a poor Indian family looking to sell him for "beads" which I presume meant riches, next a merchant who intended to sell him for real money, then into a boat in a cage full of other parrots destined for American pet shops etc., etc., and that's just the first 50 pages or so). These short episodes led to the book being a pretty speedy read, one I quite enjoyed. Not surprised to learn the author was a screenwriter of the era (this was published in 1948). It was a fun time!
