What a juicy read! This is the very definition of a 'page turner'! It took me a few days to process all of the twists and turns to even find a way to a review. My mind is blown!
The vacillation of the past and the present set the stage for extensive character development. These characters are grimy, shady, beautifully flawed, loving, selfless, and selfish. They are everyone you'd want to know, and all of those you hope to never come across. I can't began to tell you how much I love this book, and how much I hated the ending! There are so many questions that need to be answered. This is a cliff hanger at its best. I'm anxiously waiting the next installment, as I have become attached and invested in each of these characters.
The author has managed to weave the beauty of life-long friendships, the desperation of adultery, the shame of hidden sexuality, and the servitude to love. He manages to make you laugh (a lot!), cry, and even throw the book!
To say I'm addicted to this book is an understatement. I will think about each of them often, and wonder about the outcome of their complicated lives. Pick it up, settle in, and get ready for a crazy ride. Charmaine, Xavier, Karianna, Emil, and Drew will not disappoint.
