Well, that's what the synop says anyway. Really though, the synop makes this story sound like Marius is pulling out all the stops to get what he wants out of Xana, when from the beginning I got the distinct impression that their romance was simply by chance. Sure, maybe he was toying with her at first (a whole 5 seconds!), but he was pretty smitten with her from the start, as was she. Yes, I said smitten, haha! And yeah, I get that he's some dangerous vampire, but I was never really convinced that he was going to hurt her after their initial encounter. So, overall, the synop was a bit misleading in my opinion.

Now, don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed this story, especially when you consider that the Nocturne series has been a bit of a hit and miss as far as I can tell. This was definitely a hit for me. It was short, but it was also satisfying. It had a natural pace and managed to cram a lot of information in so I never felt like I didn't know what was going on. Marius and Xana's relationship progressed quickly but naturally and the chemistry was very much there. I worried about her brother, Cayman, when he went missing and was relieved and horrified when he was found. I just wish it was longer!

Definitely worth the read.

I really enjoyed this Nocturne Bite! It's sexy, fast-paced and has everything I like in a vampire romance: a kick-butt heroine and a sexy vampire! The story-line is really interesting and the bite is very well-written. I had a hard time putting it down and wished there was more when it was done. It's definitely worth picking up. One of the best Harlequin Nocturne Bites I've read in a long time.

Better than I'd expected. Short stories are hard to do right, but this one mannaged to convince me. The action was fast paced and the romance believable, mostly because it was presented as a begining, not as a "I-love-you-forever-after-two-days-together" kind. 4.5 stars.

The writing is great, but with it being rushed I felt completely left hanging and pushed to fast. This novella had the winnings of a good novel.
