I liked this book. It explains the origins of our beliefs in unicorns, winged horses, griffins and mermaids. Due thought is given to the rhinoceros and narwhal as possible sources for unicorn mythology. The Mesopotamian story of the unicorn as representing the moon and the lion as representing the son was quite interesting, as well as actual wall carvings depicting unicorns from the ruins of Persepolis in Persia.
