Some of these ideas probably sounded pretty revolutionary 20 some years ago. But they are fairly dated now. I don’t really feel more prepared to teach on a block than I did before I read this. I was looking for more concrete and current examples.
I liked the first half of this book written by a Central Virginia Writing Project Fellow. He offered solid rationale for the activities he suggested and obviously valued deep reading and engaged writing. the second half od the book was not so good and I could have skipped that entirely.
