Long enough to be much more thorough than a picture-book. I wish I could make time to read it; it's not too long or difficult. And even on a skim I'm learning interesting things. For example he 'once and for all' debunked the theory of spontaneous generation... in 1860. He also developed an anthrax vaccine. And, quite naturally, became just a bit of a germaphobe.
Includes back matter, with three experiments children can do with adult help.
