The dark man looks for the fire the old man spoke of. A boy leads him towards it. He faces the fire to close the gateway. I found this to be an odd series. The books are small. The illustrations are very surreal looking, black and white and swirly. Skimpy writing, not many words but the story gets told.

The Dark man series are hi/lo horror novels appropriate for students in middle and high school. Readers will appreciate that the books in this series do not look like "baby books." They will also be excited to have books from the horror/fantasy genre that are accessible (Lexile level) to them.

i liked this book because when the littel boy took the dark man through the tonnel then they put there habd in fire and then the fire went away
