A super-fun read that hits many of the highlights of the North American mountains (California Sierras, Canadian Rockies, Alaska, Tetons, etc.), with historical accounts of the first ascents or signature climbs for each peak. Great photos of the routes taken up many of the mountains as well. While this can be used as a guidebook/tick list, it is written in a much more entertaining and engaging fashion than is usually the case. So long as you love the mountains, you don't need to be a climber to enjoy this book.
