Set in and around a fire station, Hidden Embers is an action packed read that draws you in from the first page. Ms. Mayfield balances the details of fire fighting enough to pull you in and immerse you in their world, without bogging you down. Add to that the mystery, romance, and heart stopping action, supplemented by a cast of well-rounded characters, and you have gripping book you don’t want to miss.

A hot book you won't put down.Characters were wonderfully described and the story was 'bewitching' . Will leave you wanting to know more about some of the lesser character's lives and very anxious for another book from Ms Mayfield.

I thought the book was fantastic. Once I started it, I couldn't stop until it was finished. Word is the author is in the process of writing another book and I cannot wait for that one as well.

Well hmmm... there was a lot of up-front information about the structure of the unit in which she worked and the members of that unit that got tedious. I think if it was necessary to know, it might have been incorporated within the story, rather than all up front. I felt like I didn't get to the start of the story until maybe the 4th chapter? The "mystery" wasn't much of a mystery -- you pretty much knew who was after them. But it was a sweet friends to lovers story. I wouldn't say it was super ...more

This book was ok. Not alot of depth, explanation of storyline, weak characters. The book was written in first person and felt like a "what I did over my summer vacation" school report.

Happily married to a VERY understanding and wonderful man, we have three beautiful children who thankfully think it's funny for their mother to babble to herself and argue with her computer while she's home from work. They now know that moomies just talking to the people in her head (lol) but in a good way. My full-time career is in Healthcare, but I'm hoping to make writting my career.

“I have found that fate has a warped tendency to let things simmer down for awhile to lead you to believe everything is all hunky dory. Content on just letting the life altering hurdles lay beneath a seemingly calm surface, luring you blindly into a new chapter of your life with the impression of smooth sailing up ahead only to have the unexpected spring up in front of you. Testing you, to see whether or not you have what it takes to roll with the waves, or sink like a stone beneath the waves. It is up to you to decide to stand back up, brush it off and continue fighting.” 1 likes
