When a Christian Sins

Rate this book
Becoming a Christian does not nullify the old nature, but rather introduces a new nature which wars against it. Sometimes the old nature overpowers the new--and a Christian sins. Some Christians even become slaves tot he old nature and therefore live in constant defeat. "When A Christian Sins" presents to defeated Christians the way to forgiveness and cleansing, the way to victory over sin, and the avenue to power in Christian living. John R. Rice clearly explains that all Christians do sin; only God's grace can keep them. He discusses the effects of sin in a believer’s life and the results of a life out of fellowship with God. He shows that a Christian's happiness in heaven depends to a large extent on how he lives on earth. Topics such as what sin is, man's position as a Christian, and God's responsibility to His children are given thorough consideration. An honest, straightforward approach, this book clearly shows the danger of sin and the need for continual cleansing. JOHN R. RICE was a well-known evangelist and radio pastor. He was editor and publisher of "The Sword of the Lord" and author of more than one hundred books and pamphlets.

I loved this book, very insightful. Christians should never forget that they do still sin and must run to Jesus right away and confess and forsake that particular sin. We need to be in right relationship with God at all times and indwelling sin prevents that and grieves the Holy Spirit.

A great reminder that
1) we are never too good or too bad for the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2) yes, God forgives is but this is in no way a license to sin
3) God hates sin and says so

I first read this book in 1976 and said it was "Excellent." It stands the test of time. A classic, well written and scriptural as well as practical and timeless.
