I liked the story. At the beginning I was interested in the title, as "La Consagración de la Primavera" in english means "The Rite of Spring" and it's also a ballet by Igor Stravinski, which its music I love and enjoy too much. The ballet is about old rites from the ancient civilizations and traditions from Russia. but this book isn't about it. I like the language and as it's write by the author in spanish (he is cuban) I enjoy it more, although sometimes I felt it a bit difficult to read. But I ...more

Şi peste toate revine obsesiv r ...more

A edição portuguesa é péssima: tradução e revisão demasiado apressadas e

What it could be one of the greatest novels of last century turned so easily into Castro propaganda on last 40 pages. Literary masterpiece? Yes. Carpentier's political blindness? Yes. Cognitive dissonance at its best? For sure.

Obra maestra.

Perhaps Cuba's most important intellectual figure of the twentieth century, Alejo Carpentier (1904-1980) was a novelist, a classically trained pianist and musicologist, a producer of avant-garde radio programming, and an influential theorist of politics and literature. Best known f
