The only thing Cindy had in mind when she started writing her first book was finishing it. The issue of actually selling it came much later. Only after she made that life-altering first sale did she realize that one book would never be enough. Now, over 20 books and numerous awards later, Cindy laughingly admits that she can barely remember life before...well, was there life before writing?

Actually, yes there was, and still is. A professional career woman, Cindy is a trainer for the Iowa Department of Human Services, a position she states is both challenging and rewarding. "Human Services is a front-line, real-life event. Everything about the job is immediate, from serving families in crisis, to assisting staff with difficult situations, to meeting tension-fraught deadlines."

Cindy's career has taught her much about the human condition, its frailties, its strengths, and its spirit. The evocative emotions that pour from the pages of her books are a reflection of some of her work experiences. Her writing celebrates life's richness and trials, offering a wide range of emotions — hope and elation, anger and indecision, laughter and, of course, love. And, according to her readers, her powerful love scenes run the gamut from steamy to tender to lusty to just plain fun.

Cindy's writing has netted her spots on bestseller lists, numerous RT nominations and awards, the Colorado Romance Writers Award of Excellence, a National Reader's Choice Award and two RITA nominations.

Between writing and working full time you wouldn't think Cindy would have much time for anything else. And while she does find her work and her writing rewarding, there does have to be more. Cindy has more. Much more. She is happily married to the perfect man. Tom's a cowboy, ladies!

Yes, even Iowa has its share of that saddle-straddling, Wrangler-wearing species who love their horses almost as much as they love their women. As a matter of fact, recently a whole herd of Texans gathered at the Gerard "Ranch" to treat their little ones to real horseback rides. Go figure.

Cindy has a passion for pink depression glass — she always has her eye out for the special piece to add to her collection. Cindy's down time often takes the form of the classic "busman's holiday." She loves to read and most of all, she loves to read at their summer place, a cabin in the woods on Lake Kabetogama in northern Minnesota.

Both Tom and Cindy enjoy gardening and have recently expanded their annual beds into a perennial garden. Cindy says she can hardly wait for spring and the promise of all that reawakening and the colorful blooms.

In addition to the horses, the Gerards have two dogs, Ellie and Boomer, who pretty much get anything they want. Tom and Cindy have one son, Kyle, who, after years of keeping them in suspense, found Eileen, the perfect woman.

Eek! I just accidentally deleted my review! And just when I was finished, too. I think I want to cry....:(

Okay then, just my thoughts:

While not my favorite of the series, I certainly enjoyed it. Pretty hard to compete with my favorite, Whisper No Lies though.

I've always loved former Navy SEAL Luke (Doc Holliday) Colter. In this book he's got some doubts about his life and career and wondering if he still has his edge, which made his journey more emotional. And after what happened to him in the previous book (Risk No Secrets) I was glad to see he got his secret fantasy woman as his very own heroine. He deserved no less.

With the dusty fedora he wore, Luke reminded Val of Indiana Jones...
Photobucket
But I imagined him looking more like this...
Photobucket

The heroine--30-something Latina supermodel Valentina? I guess I liked her enough. I didn't feel as if I knew her as well as I would've liked, if that makes sense? I know she was trying to 'find herself' after dealing with her husband's betrayal, but I didn't like how she constantly put up walls in her relationship with Luke. Girlfriend, trust your judgment--Luke is a keeper, and what you have is worth fighting for. I did like how she came through in the end for him, and in the words of Johnny Duane Reed became "one kick-ass warrior woman".

Valentina...
Photobucket

Their love scenes? Hot. Their first time together, when Val said "Do things to me, Luke. Do things that will make us both forget everything going on outside this room." Muy caliente!

The non-bedroom relationship? I loved it. Everything seemed real and natural, and I especially liked getting inside the H/h heads and hearing what they thought. Luke was sweet, funny, and very endearing. Who wouldn't fall in love with him?

Favorite part of the book? When all the BOIs (and some of their wives) made a return appearance, of course! Love these guys, and their relationships with each other. Loved seeing them working together again to take down the bad guys, and loved how Val fit right in with the women (B.J. and Crystal).

My favorite passage in the book? When Val's in the limo, about to drive away, and Luke is watching her, knowing that this might be the last time he sees her since he's off to take down the bad guys...
Awww...*big sigh*

So yeah, this is a no-brainer--this series is fan-tabulous, probably one of the best ongoing RS out there. There's not a bad book in the bunch, and each is filled with superb plotting, fast pacing, plenty of action, vivid characterizations, and hot, hot love scenes. If you like to read about alpha men who fall hard for their women, you have to try these books. Just realize they are not stand alones. The Black Ops series is a spin-off from Gerard's Bodyguards series, and it would be best to read that series first, or at the very least read #6 in that series (Into the Dark) before starting this series. I can't stress enough how consistently good these all are, and it makes me sad to realize that there's only one more book in this series--Joe Green's story (Last Man Standing) due early next year. 4 1/2 stars

Luke Colter is traveling through the Peruvian Andes, taking some much needed downtime following his near death injury from the last BOI operation, when the train he's riding on is seized by some seriously armed and bad people. What first looks like a robbery is actually an abduction attempt of the young man sitting near Luke. His instincts taking over, Luke helps him escape but turns out "him" is actually "her," the famous supermodel Valentina Chamberlin traveling incognito and who was the object of his teenage dreams for years.

The action starts right away and never lets up. Luke's very real introspection about his future presents an added layer of conflict as he uses the skills he's questioning to protect Valentina and bring her to safety. Her own issues from her recent divorce dovetailed nicely, timing being ideal for both. While their relationship developed quickly under the circumstances, both were grappling with similar identity crises, helping each other plow through them.

I enjoyed the story, especially as it wasn't clear as to why Valentina was being abducted nor the end game of her pursuer. And, the BOI women are in the spotlight this time and it was great to see them in action. Luke and Valentina were well suited and their relationship enhanced the plot. This series continues to be exciting with interesting locales and challenges.

Opening Line: “Luke Colter’s number one rule of self preservation: Don’t ignore the itch.”

How great is it to be back with the BOI’s of Black-Ops Inc? I’ve seriously missed this series, as its been over a year since the last book and I think its one of the best romantic suspense's running right now. With this 6th instalment Cindy Gerard doesn’t disappoint either because we finally get Doc’s story and it's oh SO good.

I knew this fun loving cowboy medic would steal my heart I just didn’t expect to fall quite so hard or be given such candour into his fears and “ghosts”. Who knew that behind that sexy smile and sense of humour he was suffering so much? I loved getting to know the real Luke Colter (Indy fedora and all) and watching him find purpose with the woman of his dreams (literally).

WITH NO REMORSE starts with a bang and just keeps going. Filled with non-stop action, adventure, passion and clever writing. Gerard whisks us away to yet another exotic South American location where we engage in shootouts, train robberies, kidnappings, explosions, donkey rides, the occasional pesky potato and some wicked arms dealers as our bad guys.

The romance is sweet, steamy and believable and with the entire wise cracking team showing up at about the half way mark I couldn’t have been happier. Yup, everyone makes a reappearance for the final show down including the ever lovable Johnny Reed, my boyfriend Gabe, Crystal and BJ (who kick serious ass) and even team leader Nate. It was fantastic catching up with everyone and seeing them in action. I should also mention that we get an intriguing look at Joe Green here and jeez does his upcoming story Last Man Standing (*sigh* last in the series) ever have me excited.

We join our man Luke on a train in Peru. Its about a year since he was injured in the last book Risk No Secrets and he’s just coming off a much needed reprieve. Luke's body may be mended but his head still isn’t in the game and for the first time in his career he’s doubting his ability to still function as a valued team member. When bandits board the train and attempt to kidnap a “young boy” Doc’s training takes over, forcing him reluctantly back into hero mode.

With the bad guys in full pursuit it takes about a minute for Luke to realize he hasn’t rescued a boy but the woman of his teenaged fantasies. Just what the hell is supermodel philanthropist Valentina doing on a train in the middle of Peru? And who are the armed and very pissed off men hunting them down? More importantly though is how exactly is he going to not come across like a bumbling, star crazed stalker as he attempts to get her to safety?

I liked this romance a lot. Valentina although beautiful (she looks like Angelina Jolie, puleese) had a great back story and when it came right down to it was able to man up and well… save her man.

Together they had some fantastic moments evoking such memorable lines as “You had me at potato” and “We’ll always have Peru” I also loved that she called him Indy (the fedora was awesome and gave a nice visual aspect to Doc) Of course then there was the tear jerking secret goodbye at the limo, and damn that man knows how to grab a reader where it hurts.

I can’t say enough good things about this series, it captured me from book 1 Show No Mercy and never let go. Each instalment is excellent; with hot alpha men falling hard for their lady loves. These guys are funny, endearing, good in bed and manage to give us quite a few sigh worthy moments while still packing a big gun and kicking major ass. The storylines are always exciting, expertly written and with a nice balance between the action and romance. I never find myself going “yeah right” with this series its just always amazing. Cheers

On a much needed vacation from the Blacks Ops group, Luke Colter is traveling on a train in the Peruvian Andres when gunmen board the train. Luke quickly figures out they are searching for Supermodel Valentina who is riding the train disguised as a boy. With some quick thinking, Luke helps Valentina off the train and on the run. Their journey takes them through the mountains with the gunmen right on their heels. Val has no idea who is looking for her. Luke vows to get her to safety and find out who has paid men to abduct Valentina.

This is another entertaining addition to Cindy Gerard's Black Ops series. I liked both Luke and Val, though Val did have one TSTL moment. I always enjoy a good "on the run" story. This one is no different. The plot concerning Val's possible abduction was a little weak, but other than that it was a very good story. My rating: 4 Stars.

Awesome! This is another thrilling, action-packed addition to the fantastic BOI series that managed to keep me riveted while on pain meds, which is no small feat. I loved Luke...aka “Doc”...aka “Indy”!

The story opens with Luke, wondering, what now? Why is he doing this? Risking his life on missions, for what? He’s struggling to move past a near death injury that happened a year ago, and he’s a self-described ghost. Going through the motions, but not really there. It was a sobering reality of a Luke we hadn’t seen throughout the series. On the outside, he’s our fun loving, poker playing, medic. On the inside, he’s suffering. He feels very adrift, not really sure why he keeps risking it all on missions, but having nothing else to really live for.

Valentina. The famous model known by just her first name, has never had control. She was abducted as a young girl by her mother’s ex-boyfriend, and still deals with the trauma of that situation, being horribly claustrophobic. She’s on her own mission in the beginning, one of finding some peace and silence from her crazy world. Her high profile marriage ended in divorce after her husband was caught cheating and after she learned of that and other betrayals, she just needed to get away. Caught in the middle of an ambush, Luke saves her life and then they run for both for their lives from an unknown enemy and our story is off to fast pace start.

We get action from the first page – with the first part of the story giving us Luke and Valentina running from the enemies, and they have no idea who those enemies are and why they want Valentina. Everything was intense from the fighting to the romance, I think I finally took a breath around page 150!

As always, there are great scenes with Luke’s teammates, and a really nice amount of Nate. He’s always the man behind the orders, but to see Nate out there with the team and in action was a great addition. We meet a few new operatives that Nate brings in to be Val’s bodyguards when the final fight was nearing. But things never go as planned and a rescue mission is quickly needed for our heroine and her bodyguards after they're ambushed. The whole team comes together for the final fight and I LOVED so much seeing Crystal and BJ play important roles as teammates in the field, and not get shoved to the side or stuck back at headquarters. We all know they wouldn’t allow Nate or anyone stick them in a corner – but they played pivotal parts in the op and held their own.

There was a nice balance between the action and romance, but for me the book was all about Luke. Finally reading about the guy he truly was instead of the persona he put out there was heartbreaking at times, you just want this guy to find his purpose, and to find his way again. To see him and Val both struggle with commitment, especially Val being very skittish about trusting someone again, when everyone else in her life had let her down, it was satisfying to see their relationship progress throughout the book.

Jesus, this woman messed with his head.
“Thank you, Luke. Thank you – “
He pressed an index finger to her lips, gently cutting her off. “No,” he said, lowering his month to her. “Thank you.”
And then he tugged off her shades, looked her deep in the eyes and kissed her.
How could he not? How could he look into those liquid brown eyes and that valiant little smile and not kiss her one more time? How could he pretend that letting her go was easy, even though he didn’t have a clue why it was suddenly so frickin’ hard?

One of my favorite parts of any Black Ops book is the epilogue. Finding out little personal updates from all our favorite couples as Luke leads a poker game and having that wonderful final scene with our hero and heroine. And with the little teaser to the last book - let the countdown to Joe’s book begin!

Luke and Val’s story is not one to be missed. If you’re a fan of rom/suspense, the Black Ops series is a must read - 4 1/2 star book. There's plenty of action that we've come to expect in this series, smokin’ hot scenes, but the best were the touching, sweet moments between Luke and Val. An excellent couple.

How about a bonus Johnny Reed moment?

“Any questions?” Nate asked the group as he tucked a pistol into an underarm holster, then zipped up his coveralls to hide it.

“Only one.” Reed looked annoyed as hell when Crystal handed him his coveralls. “What’s with this khaki crap? I specifically requested blue to match my eyes. All right, people, ‘fess up. Who dropped the ball on this one?”

Luke Colter is on his way back to BOI Headquarters on a nighttime train from his vacation in the Peruvian Andes using his talents as a medic to aid the Quechua people and, I suspect, to recover from his brush with death in the last book. He is not the same man, mentally, and his reevaluation of his life is tough. He keeps remembering his mom "At what point is enough, enough, Luke?" Heavy stuff. Interrupting this introspection is "Luke Colter's number one rule of self-preservation: Don't ignore the itch". Something is off but Luke just isn't seeing it.

World-famous supermodel Valentina, has spent the last six months on a life reevaluation of her own. Her marriage to the charismatic US Senator from California ended in divorce. Her search for answers has led her to the same place as Luke, except she looks more like a young boy than a supermodel.

The train is stopped and boarded by a group of mercs, extremely well armed mercs. They are looking for someone - three guesses who? It's the why that drives this whole plot and it is non-stop action from the first page to the end. In between Luke and Val run for their lives and Val and Luke discover there is more to her than her beautiful face. As Reed puts it: Val is a "kick-ass warrior woman."

I L O V E D With No Remorse!
There is not one thing I didn’t love in this book.
This is Luke “Doc” Holliday’s story. He is one of my favorite character in the series from the very beginning and he didn't disappoint.

I usually love how she starts her stories, but I loved it even more with this one. Luke and Val relationship is sweet and hot with some funny moments and I really liked the introspection bits from both of them.

As usual in this series, the BOI participation was the icing on the cake. I just love their interactions.

WOW, what a thrilling and wonderful ride this was! Cindy Gerard has done it again! I'd actually forgotten how much I've missed the BOI boys until I started reading this. I love them all, and always thought myself a Johnny Reed girl, I still am. But Luke 'Doc' Colter you've won my heart too! Fantabulous read!

4.5 HEARTS

Luke 'Doc Holliday' Colter is all sorts of yummy, blended with uber masculinity and a heart touched by Midas himself.

Valentina Chamberlin is the epitome of sexiness. A model and world famous hottie she definitely gave Luke a run for his money.

Yet another match ignited in the worst experience which grew to a love that made my heart clench with their 'happily ever after.'

Cindy Gerard writes vivid romantic suspense. The drama is palpable, each heart racing action scene making me clench my fists waiting for them to finally pull through and make it to the other end. Each romantic scene leaving me sighing with a steamy picture of my (yes I said MY!) Luke Colter in my mind.

Unfortunately I can't dream on command otherwise with inspiration like this I would never want to wake up.

One more book left in this series and the thought of finishing it is leaving me more than a little sad.

Another good romantic suspense from Cindy Gerard. The characterization of the hero was very well done and most of the book was from his perspective. He was having some sort of a 'what should I do with my life' crisis and worked it out over the course of the book.

The heroine was fairly well done. She did grow over the course of the book. She wasn't a very strong person character wise and she knew it and tried to step up and take care of herself as the book went on instead of relying on men to take care of her.

The story was fast paced and believable. We got to see all the BOI guys and the introduction of a couple of new guys who might be the next spin off series so it's all good.

Another fantastic book to add to the BOI's collection. I have rated all of the books in the series 5 stars and this deserves that rating too. I have loved every single one of them and am sad that I have now finished but at least I only have to wait a few weeks as Joe's story is due to be released at the end of the month.

I loved Luke and he came very close to knocking Gabe off the my number one spot. I really liked Valentina too - Even though she was rich and famous she was very down to earth and not snooty in any way. They were good together and after Luke's near death experience the previous year I think he really needed someone like Valentina.

Can't wait until Joe's story is here :)

I had a hard time getting into With No Remorse by Cindy Gerard. That honestly took me by surprise as the other books by her immediately grabbed me, and Luke's a favorite BOI of mine. Still, knowing how engaging the other books in this series were, I stuck with it. Right around page 50 or so it picked up and I was hooked just like I expected to be, and sped through the rest of the book.

But by the end, I felt a little disappointed.

It was hard at first to pinpoint why; the plot was quick and action-packed (standard Cindy Gerard fare), and you got to see the other BOIs in action. Luke was super sweet and the sex scenes were hot. Then, it hit me - I flat out didn't care for Val. I never connected with her character, and I couldn't relate to anything she was feeling. Back and forth, wishy-washy female characters are just not my cup of tea, and Val was. That kind of personality coupled with a Too Stupid To Live moment from Val, and I was definitely not into her.

Her childhood trauma didn't fit for me, either. It felt more like a convenient way to add drama to the plot than anything else; though the reactions Val had to certain situations were believable because of her trauma, the whole issue itself felt forced, like it was a way to add depth to a character without actually adding depth. Val was already an internationally known figure; was it necessary to give her childhood trauma, too? Luke already knew pretty much everything about her anyway, which took a little romance out of the "getting to know you part" of it. I don't know, but it was a backstory that I had a hard time accepting.

Making it worse was that Luke really was adorable, but I couldn't figure out why he was so attracted, other than her physical beauty. Having torn through other Cindy Gerard books, I knew to expect a lot of things happening in a short amount of time, so I was willing to accept the undeniable pull they had to each other. But I couldn't help feeling like Luke was getting the short end of the stick.

Overall, it was an entertaining book, but I don't think it's going to be one of my favorites from Cindy Gerard. I really wanted to love it, and it hurts to give it only 3 stars, but there you go. I had a problem with the last book (couldn't get into that heroine either), so I'm hoping the next book features a lady I can get behind. I AM glad to see that this series won't end at six books like the other series did; here's hoping the next book wins me over.

This was book 6 in the "Black Ops Inc." series. Luke "Doc Holliday" Colter is taking some much needed down-time, making his way across the Peruvian Andes via rail, when banditos attack the moving train in the midnight hours. It soon becomes apparent that robbery is not their intent but the abduction of super model Valentina, who is traveling incognito while recovering from a public scandal involving her ex-husband, high profile US Senator, Marcus Chamberlin. Luke whisks Valentina off the train in a daring escape but the two of them become the targets of a relentless manhunt. Enlisting the aid of Luke's BOI teammates, they soon discover that Val’s intended abduction is linked to a plot put in play by an international gun smuggling alliance. I loved Doc in the other books and was excited that he had his own book and Ms. Gerad did not disappoint. Doc is funny and loyal and strong and willing to do anything to keep her safe. I had to warm up to Val I mean the whole super model thing she was drop dead gorgeous it was hard to not dislike her. These two had a lot of chemistry. I also like the secondary character's in this series the team is awesome. I loved the narration as I listened to this book on audio. I am looking forward to listening to the next book in this series.

Another great story! I really love Luke, sweet, sexy, funny I just wanted to wrap my arms around this man! He is currently on vacation and trying to come to emotionally recover from a very bad gunshot, trying to decide if he still can do his job. On a train he runs into Valentina the hollywood star of his dreams and boyhood fantasies. Someone is chasing her and Luke is not going to let that happen.

I liked the action in this story and of course the BOI's are back! One of the best parts of these books is the close relationship between these men, the way they care about each other and the way they give each other a hard time. I love these guys!

I liked the romance in this book as well, my heart went out to Luke especially. Dealing with his emotional scars from the gunshot, unsure of his future and doubting he has it in him anymore. But despite all of that uncertainty, he still bears his heart to Valentina. *warm fuzzes* Valentina seemed a little distant to me honestly, I would have liked to see a warmer response to Luke. While i believed Luke's depth of love for Valentina I wasn't really convinced of hers.

Now onto the next and last book in the series *sniff sniff*

So many other in depth reviews on this book already, so I'm just going to go with like and dislikes.

LOVED Luke "Doc" Colter! And the comparisons with Indiana Jones were priceless. I've been waiting for his story since the beginning and Gerard delivered.

Kinda liked Valentina. She was a hard heroine to like and I don't know if that was the authors intentions or not but it's my opinion. Even with her background of traumatic situations, I still felt she was a bit of a priss at times. The major TSTL moment involving her ex-husband almost made me put the book down for good.

The story itself was believable and compelling and exciting and I was happy to see old friends like Reed and Gabe and The Choir Boy. (I now have the urge to go back and read their books again!)

Didn't like a few situations which I thought were a little over the top but this is fiction so I rolled with the flow and tried to enjoy it.

Overall, I'm giving this a very high B+. Great read but not a fantastic read and definitely not a keeper for me. There is an excerpt for the very last book in this series and I think based on what I read of it, it will be spectacular!

Whenever I pick up a Cindy Gerard novel, I expect to be transported to a world that, although very real, is someplace I can never access on my own. I expect that she will suck me in so deep, I’ll feel the reality of that world as clearly as my own. In WITH NO REMORSE, she delivers in spades.

From the first page, I’m drawn to Luke (Doc). I’m inside the head of a warrior and privy to not only his courage, but his self-doubt and vulnerability. Likewise, Val’s need to gain some semblance of control over her life makes her relatable, despite her outrageous beauty and celebrity. The fiery chemistry between Luke and Val ignites the story as much as the deftly woven plot.

I love the vitality and vibrant color of the writing. The pacing is break-neck, so buckle up. Description is sparse, yet beautiful and fresh and perfectly sets the scene. Early on, Gerard writes, “Outside, the night scrolled by, star-studded and black.” For me, that is an apt description of her prose. It scrolls by, hypnotizing me. WITH NO REMORSE is action packed, unexpected and heart-rending. What a fantastic storyteller is Cindy Gerard.

Terrific story that I found fun to read not only watching the characters grow, but how the pages were kicking with "stuff." Book started right off and never stopped. Woven by one of the experts, this tale did not disappoint This Reader at all. Loved the romance between the H/h.

Luke "Doc" Holiday finally got his turn between the covers, literally. Valentina was his fantasy supermodel come to life. How these two met was fate or a fluke? How they loved was very emotional.

Most of the story took place in South America and I had the movie "Romancing the Stone" running through my mind as the couple ran for their lives in the middle of nowhere. Loved reading updates from previous characters and can't wait for the next one in this series.

A favorite for This Reader.

I have loved everything I have read by author Cindy Gerard and have come to depend on her to deliver a thrilling Romantic Suspense and ‘With No Remorse’ certainly didn’t disappoint, it kept me riveted and awake until all hours.

‘With No Remorse’ is the 6th installment in the Black Ops Inc. series and featured alpha hero, Luke ‘Doc’ Colter who is about to return to work at Black Ops Inc. after a 2 week vacation in the Peruvian Andes when the train he is traveling on is hijacked, recognizing the ‘young boy’ sitting alongside him is their target he kills two of the hijackers and saves them both. He is hesitant to be anyone’s savior but recognizes the boy is in danger and in need of his help.

What he didn’t realize was the young boy is actually a woman and his teen fantasy, famous supermodel, Valentina Chamberlin who is traveling in disguise. I loved his reaction; he has always been captivated by her beauty so was shocked to discover she was the hijacker’s target.

Val took some time out to rediscover herself after the failure of her high profile marriage to a famous Senator with a number of secrets of his own, she has trust issues so doesn’t instantly warm to her savior but he worms his way in and the feelings Luke ignites in her has certainly left her baffled.

The mystery behind Valentina’s pursuers and the reasoning for wanting her captured was well done, the villain is known to us throughout the book and what a piece of work he was! there were a few shock twists and turns but I enjoyed how the whole team of BOI worked together in the final conflict for a suitable resolution.

I didn’t instantly warm to Valentina but she grew on me as the book progressed, she had a number of issues caused by some poorly made decisions but she seemed to constantly struggle with herself emotionally. Now, Luke I adored! I think he has taken over the role as my fave BOI previously held by Johnny Duane Reed, he had personal struggles of his own after a near death mission left him questioning what he wants from life and why he continues to put himself in harms way, he was protective towards Val and felt a sense of possession with her; I loved his humor and caring nature. They are from completely different worlds and both had emotional barriers and baggage to work through which they did with the support of one another, I enjoyed the relationship they shared.

I absolutely love the boys of Black Ops Inc. as well as their partners, Crystal & B.J played a more prominent role which was nice to see, and they didn’t have to take a backseat for the men to do the job fully – the banter and camaraderie between the team is fun, you can really tell how close and supportive they are to one another.

The story was fast paced and action packed the romance sweet and the HEA perfect. I enjoyed the snippet of the next book which features Joe Green and has an anticipated release date of 2012.

This is another great read from a fantastic series that I can’t recommend highly enough.

Wow, i really liked this one a lot! The first book Show No Mercy and the Hero in that book, Gabe, have been my favorite in this series until NOW..holy cow is Luke "Doc" Colter sexy!! He's a former SEAL, a medic, he's a total alpha but he's also super sweet and soooo funny!!

The books starts off with Luke on a train, in Peru, in the middle of the night..he's been on a couple week vacation from the BOI group he works for and is heading to Cuzco to catch his flight back home. A group of rebels with assault rifles end up stopping the train and board, they're searching for someone and it soon becomes apparent to Luke, after they've already killed one of the passengers, that they're target appears to be a boy. Luke immediately jumps to his defense and they end up escaping by leaping off the train and running into the jungle. Once they're in the jungle and the "boy's" hat has come off, he realizes that he is not a boy after all, but a famous model by the name of Valentina, and not just any model but his teenage fantasy girl..literally!..from when he was a teenager!! She happens to be in Peru on a mission to "find herself" after the dissolution of her marriage. She is completely shocked and shaken up and has absolutely no clue why anyone would be after her. Lucky for her Luke was on that train or the woman would have been toast!

I just loved how he was with her! He was very obviously "crushing on her" since she was his teenage fantasy, but remained completely professional and took such good care of her while they made their way through the jungle, while still being followed by the bad guys.

I can see how others might have had a problem with her character... she came off as a somewhat superficial model in the beginning but she grew on me and i did actually think their relationship was believable and that their feelings for each other were genuine.

One of the really great things about this series is that the guys and their women, from past books, are there for every single mission so we are kept up on how things are progressing with each couple, i love that! Even Crystal, who is married to Johnny Reed from Whisper No Lies... she works alongside the guys at BOI now and was featured quite a bit in the last book and this one. I did not care for her at ALL in their own book (she was probably my least favorite heroine), but she's def. grown on me and has become quite likeable with how she interacts with the guys and she was really sweet with Val in this book. She took her under her wing...to the shooting range to teach her how to shoot a gun, she even took her shopping and they got manis and pedis! Lol!

All in all, another great addition to the Block Ops series!

If one loves romantic suspense, Cindy Gerard is the place to go for a satisfying fix every time! Her writing is intelligent, her knowledge of the subject shines through and not only intrigues but educates as well. Her guys are drop-dead, breathtakingly sigh-worthy, military alphas (oh, YUM!) and her gals are (usually) sympathetic, believable women who overcome and grow as people while falling for those men.

I've loved the character of Luke "Doc." Colter throughout this series and Ms. Gerard did not let me down when writing his story. He is humorous, self-depricating, flawed, yet strong, loyal and lovable. I had a little more trouble with the heroine - not because she lacked in any way as far as the writing is concerned. It is just kind of hard being sympathetic to the "trials" of an international super-model who is so stunning, jaws drop as she walks by, who is also rich as Croeses with a body of a Goddess. Everyone recognizes her and bows, the media chase her....well, you get the picture and her biggest hurdle to overcome (minus the bad guys) is that she has had everything given to her and hasn't really had to work for it... Buying into that whole scenario is a little odd, I wanted to root for her and was happy that Luke found her - I guess..... Maybe the problem is that with romance, we all like to identify with the hero or heroine, even if it's just a little bit and this particular heroine made that pretty much impossible *shrugs*

Still, a great, edge of your seat, riveting suspense to read.

Another wonderful read in the "BOI" series. As anxious as I am for Joe and Stephanie's book, I do hate to see this series end. Gerard crafts a great storyline and always captivates my attention from the first page to the last page. Luke "Doc" and Valentina made a great match, it was good to revisit the other guys and their significant others, and get a sneak peak at what's next.

Oh man, how I loved this book! Gabe is still my man but I think Doc is my number 2 guy. But we shall see after I read about Joe. Oh man poor Joe! I need to get to his book ASAP!

Sixth in the Black Ops, Inc. romantic suspense series revolving around the BOIs. The focus is on Luke Colter and Valentina Chamberlain.

My Take
Ooh, baby, every boy's wet dream, making it with the woman he fantasized about as a teen! For we ladies, hmmm, I do like where Valentina's thoughts are taking her with regard to Luke. A fedora that reminds her of Indiana Jones...I can get down with that!

There is no end to the action in this one! A daring train bail-out, clambering through the mountains, a horse race, hiding out in an impromptu cave...up to the helicopter getaway. And that's just for starters!

Poor Luke: "...if 99.9 percent of his attention hadn't been fixed on his aching gonads and wondering if he'd ever father children."

I have often wondered why women got stuck with sidesaddles...

Gerard has such great heros. Yeah, yeah, yeah, ya wanna take 'em to bed, but they're also men you could introduce to your parents with pride. They have high morals, tremendous loyalty, and a willingness to do what it takes. Um, and really hot 'bods!

Rafe and Reed are "channeling [their] inner Rambos...

In this story, Luke and Valentina are good for each other. Helping each other past the negatives in their lives.

Loved Reed's desire at the end for a cute little baby like Mariah. But then Crystal's reminder of "three o'clock feedings...smelly diapers...responsibility… Well, let's just say that Johnny realizes he'd rather have another beer, LOL! Then there's Thomas' promotion to wingman!

Oh, boy. This is where Gerard sets the hook for Joe in the next BOIs' adventure, Last Man Standing . I want...and don't want to read this one...I'm scared.

It was kind of weird reading about Sierra Leone, picturing Lungi Airport and Freetown, other places I've been in the country. It is rather perfect for scary action although Sierra Leone and romantic suspense are not a connection I'd've made… The country does have the most incredible beaches. The best I've ever been on with that soft, soft sand and the incredibly warm water. Skinny-dipping at midnight in the ocean has never been so warm...

The Story
It's a train trip back from his two-week leave. One that Luke Colter had spent helping provide medical care up in the mountains of Peru. He may have been reconsidering his life-and-death career choice, especially after events in San Salvador in Risk No Secrets .

All it takes, though, is a threat to innocent people and Luke is back in action, facing a manhunt through the mountains of Peru as he and the girl, no, she's a woman now, of his dreams are on the run from men willing to kill to capture her.

Now. Now, she's bait.

The Characters
Luke Colter, a Montana cowboy and Navy SEAL, is the team medic and he's been wondering if it's time to retire. After what happened in San Salvador, he's been losing his nerve.

Valentina Chamberlain, a highly successful model, is looking for more in her life. A man who isn't hiding who he is. The recent discovery about her husband has her reeling and she's taken off to think about her life, her future. If she has one… Senator Marcus Chamberlain is her about-to-be-ex-husband. Some secrets are just too wrong to hold silent. And makes the head of the House Committee on Armed Services quite vulnerable.

Nathan Black commands Black Ops, Inc., a mercenary organization that works off the books for the U.S. government and is based in Buenos Aires. He and Dr. Juliana Flores have finally(!) gotten married. I like that Gerard has things going on in the background throughout the series...even if I did want to go the wedding! The BOIs involved in this op include Johnny Duane and Crystal "Tink" Reed, Rafe "Choirboy" and BJ Mendoza, Gabe Jones (Jenna is pregnant!), and "Mean" Joe Green, who spends most of his downtime in D.C. with Stephanie Tompkins, Bryan's baby sister.

Ann Tompkins is Bryan's mom and a lawyer at the Department of Justice. She and her husband, Robert, opened their hearts and their home to the surviving members of Bryan's team.

Mike "Primetime" Brown is the pilot the BOIs use in this story; he'll join up at the end of this story. Enrique Santos is a retired Marine; Brett Carlyle is a young-looking Iowa boy with a whole lotta skills from the army; and Josh Waldrop is former Special Forces. These last three are combat veterans and they'll protect Valentina in Sierra Leone.

Just to catch up...
Wyatt "Papa Bear" Savage (CIA) and Sophie Weber are still on their honeymoon, although they do have a six-month-old daughter, Mariah to go with Sophie's adopted daughter, Hope. That is some extended honeymoon! Sam and Abbie Lang have two kids: year-old Thomas and two-year-old Bryan.

Ryang Wong Jeong is scum, an illegal arms dealer in favor with Kim Jong-il, the now-dead leader of North Korea. Ooops. At least he loves his wife, Jin, enough to use and abuse the too-young whores instead of her. What a guy... He and his wife have a three-year-old daughter, Cho. He desperately needs to collect Valentina if his plans are to be fulfilled. He has too much to lose. Well, that's reason enough to hope he doesn't get her!

Minister of Commerce Siaka Bai M'boma of Sierra Leone. Valentina is the celebrity goodwill ambassador. General Augustine Sesay has plans for a coup against the current government in Sierra Leone.

The Cover
The cover is dark. A black background and a black-and-white photo of Luke, long lashes, stubble and all. Just part of one shoulder and a three-quarter profile of half of that. Up close and personal.

The feel behind the title didn't jump out at me, and I think it's all about Val and Luke. Choosing to engage in a relationship With No Remorse.

How I got this book: Simon & Shuster Galley Grab

This was my first Gerard read, and I’ll admit that the moment I finished reading this one, I went to see if my local library had the other books in the series! I enjoyed the premise of the Black Ops, Inc. team and look forward to going back and reading the rest of the stories.

Luke is on the final leg of his vacation, and dreading getting back to work. After his last big mission when he was shot, he is having a harder time getting into his work. When men with guns board his train and try to abduct a fellow passenger, Luke finds himself putting his life on the line to save her. It isn’t until they are on the run that he realizes the woman is non other than the woman of his dreams, super model Valentina.

Val is trying to find herself after the horrible media circus surrounding her divorce from her congressman husband. She has a hard time trusting people, and the fact that she is having both a hard and an easy time trusting Luke is throwing her off. With everything that’s gone wrong, she really doesn’t know which way is up anymore. When more of her plight comes to light and secrets are revealed, Val will need to take charge and Luke will have to face his greatest fears: falling in love.

Like I said, I really enjoyed the concept of the Black Ops Inc. team and enjoyed all the different characters in the book. I really like Luke, he was everything I’ve come to look for in a sexy ex-military hero. He was strong, possessive, and a little tortured from his past. I always love when my military heroes struggle a little with their past and don’t treat some of the horrific things they have gone through as “no big deal.” I liked that Luke didn’t have rose colored glasses on, but at the same time was able to joke and laugh and do what needed to be done to deal with his past.

For the most part I really liked Valentina as well. I think in the beginning she really struggled with herself, her past, and her place in the world. I was impressed with the way she handled herself during the chase through Peru, especially when it came to her bucking up and doing everything Luke told her to, regardless of his directive. I wish that Gerard would have gone into her past a little more, especially her childhood trauma and how that affected Val’s life. While it was touched on multiple times, I wish we would have been able to see Val and Luke deal with it a little more.

There were times I wanted to shake both Luke and Val when it came to their relationship. I could totally understand why they were both hesitant to get involved, but at the same time I wanted to smack them both for their hesitancy. From the moment these two met, you knew there would be sparks flying left and right, but they both held parts of themselves back, and then they would break down huge emotional barriers, just to build them back up again. At times it drove me a little crazy!

The suspense sub-plot was well done as well. Not my favorite, as the villain was known to us throughout the book, and I always like a little mystery with my suspense. But, at the same time it was good, there was tons of action and I liked the way the plot moved quickly through the story. It was nice that in the epilogue we also got the chance to see Luke and Val in an everyday normal setting, which was something we really didn’t get to see at all during the main story. It was a nice refreshing sense of normalcy and a breath of fresh air.

All in all I really enjoyed my first Gerard read. The hero and heroine were real characters that were easy to love and just flawed enough to be normal. The action moved quickly and kept me engaged up until the very end. While there were times the romance drove me crazy, I was happy with Luke and Val’s HEA.

I give With No Remorse a B+.
