This was a fun story - full of the usual tropes, but lighthearted and funny. Recommend!

Once Upon A Wedding Night by Sophie Jordan has been a book I bought quite a while ago at a used bookstore and I swear its been on my bookshelf for months and months, so I decided that I needed to pick it up because it is Sophie Jordan and before I knew it I was swept away in this angsty romance and it is angsty but so fun. I just got a kick out of these two. These just love to argue with each other and its pretty entertaining to watch. And

This book started out promising. It actually a great love story about a woman married to a man who happened to not want her, therefore has left her and their marriage unconsumated for seven years. He dies and leaves her a widow desperate to hold on to her home and livelihood for the sake of her family. So she pretended that she's pregnant and the baby may the next heir in line for the title and land. I'm so annoyed with Nick! He's such a stubborn. He forced Meredith to marry so she wouldn't be his burden. He attracted to her and made love to her, but still, he wanted to marry her off. When she finally accepted her suitor's proposal, he refused and told him that she had been intimate with him. So he brought her to Gretna Green forcefully and married her. When he woke up in the morning, he realized he could be fall in love with her, so he left her in the country and he came back to London.

This one was simply acceptable. There's not anything particularly amazing about it… I felt like it took way too long to build up and way too little to build down, if you understand what I mean. It was just… Oh, she's lost her husband, (view spoiler) she's really sexy, he's really sexy, LET'S KISS!, (view spoiler) I love him!, I love her!, (view spoiler) ...more

Nick = Gerizekalı

İlk defa bir erkek karakterin zeka seviyesinden şüphe ettim. Önce kızı evlen diye tehdit et, zorla sonra damat adayı karşına gelince o benim diye hiddetlen. Manyak herif :D :D

The book begins with Lady Meredith Brookshire discovering that her recently dead husband has left her with nothing and his half-brother is suppose to be the new Earl of Brookshire. Since she doesn't have a heir, everything that has been her home belongs to someone else.

Her husband has never been a true gentleman and she fears that his brother will kick her and her family on the street, so the only way she can stay there is if she has a son, the new Earl. The problem is her husband has never been

I read through about the middle of chapter 3 before I gave up on the absurdity of the situation and characters.

Heroine is a newly Widowed countess. After seven years of marriage, her absent husband never consummated the marriage. She's a vicar's daughter who brought no fortune or status to the marriage. Her husband left her nothing in the will.

She's certain (without even meeting the man) that the new Earl will toss her out off the house with nothing along with her aunt, father and other

After countless of reviews, I wish Goodreads would allow us to rate a book using 1/2 star rather than rounding it up.

This book deserve a 3.5 stars, and rounding up, it is 4 stars in Goodreads rating system *sighhhh*

Anyhow, I do think that since this is the fifth book that I read from Sophie Jordan, she may fast becoming my auto buy author.

Her heroines are strong, and in this novel, Meredith is no exception. Widowed at such a young age, she had to depend on her deceased husband's half brother, th

My 3 stars is a generous rating. I have read a few books from Ms. Jordan and can say that I only really liked the first one I read. Everything else is a little almost too light for me. With little substance, lots of sex for no reasons and rather superficial characters.

THe blurb says pretty much what the story is about. Meredith at 25 is a virgin widow. Comes Nick, her brother-in-law, supposedly a brooding hero with a dark past. I say "supposedly" because other than his parents divorcing and his

I liked the tension and chemistry between the characters. It was more than half the story, I would say it carried the book through. The heroine (Meredith) began with lies, the hero (Nick) continued with anger. I appreciate her courage. I'm not one of those who see matters in black and white. I think that someone who says he'll not tell a lie to save his livelihood is a hypocrite. And women in those times didn't have so many options.
Nick's anger is understandable, but it seems carried a bit to lo

What A Great Book!

Madly in love with Nick! Outcast at 8 years old by his father , the Earl. His father believing that his second wife had cheated on him , threw Nick and his mother into the streets. His older half brother married a local Vicar's daughter, and never bothered to come home again. Lady Meridith has been running the estate on her own for seven years, including the care of her ailing father, and her elderly Aunt. Her husband dies, without leaving her anything, and now the Earldom will

Jordan took a while to begin to develop the chemistry between the main characters, but once she did the chemistry blossomed into an amazing love story. I enjoyed the fact that Jordan did not immediately delve into the love scenes, but instead waited until I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the relationship to be taken to the next level.

When I first began reading this novel I was a little disappointed, because it did not initially seem to be as wonderful as Jordan’s other novels. However,

No se que tiene esta novela que me gusta tanto :) Nick se hace odiar pero es perfecto a su manera :o y Meredith resulta ser más fuerte de lo que aparenta.

Me encanta! :)

I hate given this a one star rating, I've liked several of this author's other books. But this one I really despised. My status updates generally show how I felt reading this book.

There were parts of the book that were a 5 Star but the majority was a 4. Slow start and I didn’t like the deception. I was glad they resolved it early enough and that is when the book picked up. Still it took 1/4-1/3 of the book to get going. I didn’t love either of them and felt the side characters needed to be developed more. But it picked up and then I couldn’t put it down. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. Though I have no idea how they connect.

Another great book by Sophie Jordan. I love her books. Meredith and Nick at first do not like each other. But as things develop they seem to be getting closer. Nick does not want to like Meredith, but finds himself near her all the time.
He wants her to get married again but does not like the man she chooses and proposes himself. It takes them through many trials and overcoming their pasts to find the love that is meant to be theirs.

I normally don't give 1-star reviews. Generally I give 4 stars, 5 if I really like the book, and 3 if is not that good, because it's someone work and they took time with it, but this one deserves a 1-star.

So, this is my first book by Sophie Jordan. I found her because of the The Debutante Files series, which I very much want to read, but I keep a record of read all books in order of publication because some character might appear in the other books and series and I want to know who they are. So

I will never not hate romance novel covers. Good god.

Romance novels are my guilty pleasure. I have a tendency to favor long, heavy stories, so they're the perfect little bit of mouthwash to swish around before I pick up something new. Funny how I always feel like I have to justify them, though. We read what we read.

Regardless, this was a well-written story. It's clear that the author is an intelligent woman, knows how people of this area would actually speak, has several clever wordplays, good
