"Flavia and her Artists" is one of the stories in Willa Cather's early collection, The Troll Garden. The story is about a rich woman who likes to gather artists around her. She is shallow and insecure and has little self-knowledge.

In the story a young friend, Imogen, a philologist, visits the country house in Tarrytown of Flavia and her husband, Arthur. Arthur is indolent and says little and Flavia thinks he is totally insensitive to art and beauty. Imogen knows he is not and wonders why he marr
