When Jeff Bennett steps foot on Kodiak to fulfill his father's deathbed request, he awakens an evil magician that the legendary Sun'Aq shaman, Aouachala, trapped in the form of a brown bear for ancient crimes. Stirred from hibernation by the presence of the blood of his enemy, the magician seeks to exact revenge on the offspring of the man that wronged him forty years before. Merrick Polasky and his grandfather Joe are descendants of Aouachala, and must find a way to return the ancient bear to hibernation before he destroys their new friend, and the island. Jeff and Merrick will join forces to search for the lost skull of Aouachala. During their trek across Russia and into Siberia, they must find a way to deal with the loss of their fathers, and become the men they were meant to be. If they fail, Kodiak will be only the first to fall before the magic and terror of The White Faced Bear.

Beautifully blended indigenous folklore with and action-packed adventure.

A regular grizzly bear is frightening enough. Throw in the supernatural/preternatural element and you have the makings for one helluva thrill.
