Gary Miracle’s life was forever changed by an infection that caused him to lose his arms and legs. He could have given up, but he chose to live and share his story, helping others respond to their own setbacks.
In December 2019, Gary Miracle’s life was forever changed by an infection that caused him to lose his arms and legs. One year later, the Christian band MercyMe shared his story with the world in their song “Say I Won’t,” which has garnered more than 5.7 million views on YouTube alone. Knowing that God works through all circumstances, Gary is committed to living life to the fullest and helping others do the same in spite of setbacks. In the light of eternity in Christ, there are no more bad days. Each day can be a new beginning.
I “met” Gary on an Easter Sunday morning in a baseball stadium with 6,000 people in the seats, when he shared his story to our Church. I was humbled.
This is Gary’s story. It is not polished and fancy. It’s real. It’s raw at times. It is so filled with God’s mercy, love, and prescence. Gary is a miracle, but it is Christ in Gary that is the real story! Thany you, Gary.

What an Incredible Journey with a Miracle receiving a Miracle
The first time I heard of Gary Miracle was through a Mercy Me Prayer Request, he was fighting for his life and needed prayers. I followed his updates and continued to pray for his miracle. Then came the “Say I Won’t” song by Mercy Me with the video to recognize not only the power of prayer, but the drive of a Miracle, Gary, that is.
This book takes you on the journey of his life, good times, bad times, uncertainty, the music God heard with prayers being lifted up for Gary, a Miracle receiving a Miracle, and his drive and determination to overcome a very large life change.
If you are looking for a book to motivate and lift you up, this is your book! Life seems to take sudden turns that we are not expecting and sure that we will not be able to succeed, but Gary Miracle, his family, friends and even strangers have shown what the power of prayer can do.
From the start, this book felt like I was listening to a new friend’s life story over a coffee. It is easy to read and great for a wide-range audience - there will be parts of this book that resonate with almost, if not every, reader. Honest; human; humorous; humble, and at times almost too humble, Gary takes us on a whistle-stop journey through his life. If you are looking for a ton of gore, you won’t find it. There are enough details to demonstrate he is well qualified to encourage and spur us on to look for joy when the journey is rough and long, but I find it is the commentators in the appendix that immutably underscore the harrowingly tough road that has led to Gary penning this book. Unafraid in presenting the reality that very often life feels far from fair, in his uncomplicated style, Gary inspires with well thought-out guidance on how to approach life’s ordinary and extraordinary challenges. Regardless of background or the stage we are at in our own life journeys, if we approach this page turner with a fraction of the apparent humility of its author, reading it could truly mark a change in the way we approach days that have the capacity to feel really, really bad – it could be the beginning of us intentionally looking for, and finding, the joy and light in all circumstances. A great read!
*I applied for an advanced copy of this book. I wrote this review of my own free will and have received no compensation of any kind for doing so. All views are my own.
Gary has always been such an inspiration. We met at one of his speaking engagements and we’ve known his story here locally. Thank you for sharing the raw and unfiltered parts of your life and journey. Thank you for reminding us how in our worst days as we sometimes struggle silently, Christ is still there.
This book was an amazing book full of God's goodness and power. It was a book full of God's miracles. Reading Gary's story and realizing how much God did for him when he was in the hospital strengthens my faith. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about how powerful God really is. insertion point after is.
This is a beautiful true story and so inspirational. No matter what kind of personal struggles someone is going through, Gary’s personal story will inspire you to keep going, to keep trying your best, and to keep believing.
I loved reading this book! The family and friends who prayed, who had real faith and trust and saw God move in the miraculous is beautiful. This is one of the most encouraging books I've ever read. Wherever you are in life, God can use you. This is a true story of how God turns ashes into something beautiful. Grace is an awesome thing. Go Gary!!
Gary's story is unforgettable. I first heard about Gary with the release of the MercyMe song, "Say I Won't." When I heard that his story was being shared in the book I had to get it. If you're in a hard place and you need encouragement and inspiration, pick the book up.
One of the most honest, heartfelt and inspirational books I have ever read! I remember when I first heard about Gary Miracle….he had lost all four limbs and was still in the hospital just trying to survive another day. Flatlining was a constant, but he always came back. Although Gary didn’t know it yet, God had prepared him ahead of time for the battle that was coming. Every day, God surrounded him with his grace and love, never leaving his side. Friends, family, and people he had never even met, myself included, prayed for him continuously at his bedside, at his church and across the country. Gary Miracle is indeed Gods walking testimony, His Miracle for the world to see. Not only did he survive, he THRIVED! We watched as through it all, he kept his hilarious sense of humor, and overcame all of the obstacles that were thrown at him. Such a testament to his Faith! I finished his book the first night, with both tears and a big smile on my face. The beauty, honesty and bravery that Gary Miracle exhibits in his story, should be mandatory reading for anyone, Christian or not, who feels that life just isn’t worth living anymore, as well as for everyone else that wants to see the power of prayer and the real and true love of our Lord. Many have said, “He can’t do this or that anymore!” What does Gary say? Just “SAY I WON’T, and I’ll keep proving you wrong!” Don’t miss this TRUE story of incredible perseverance and undying faith. A beautiful introduction is written by his dear friend, Bart Millard, of the Christian band MercyMe.
Best, most honest book I’ve read in a long time! A must read! Gary’s honestly about his life journey is raw, real, emotional and encouraging. You will laugh, cry, pray and cheer!
Three years ago, Gary was fighting for his life. Unexpectedly and almost overnight, Gary’s body went into multi-system organ failure. He was in a coma for 10 days, medically dead for 11 minutes, all four of his limbs were amputated.
Because of the prayers of millions around the world, Gary lived.
With humility and passion, Gary tells his incredible story. You don’t want to miss this.
