The second season of Chris Claremont's X-Men Forever series did not start as well as I hoped. I already set the bar pretty low at this point so it's grossly shocking that it managed to disappoint me still. I think it's safe to say everything about this series is a mixed bag. What it does well, it does a pretty good job maintaining (such as certain character arcs about Kitty Pryde, Rogue, Jean Grey and Storm); but what it fails to deliver is usually the very things that prohibit this comic book s ...more

Second verse, same as the first. Chris Claremont returns to his Forever X-Men for a second go-round that still feels stale. Set in a different timeline, this is a follow up to Xmen Forever. The authorities want to destroy the Xmen, Burnup is destroying mutants and to top it all the morlocks are unhappy. Its a decent enough story, just really strange having characters that you know behave differently because of their experiences in the alternate timeline.

After berating the last couple of volumes, I felt this one was much stronger. Not even sure I can explain why, but it felt more like old school Claremont to me...
