Lee Mendelson was a long time collaborator with Charles M. Schulz. From the very beginning his work resulted in some of the most beloved television specials of all time.
This 1979 volume is more than simply a collection of Peanuts comic strips, though the strips are plentiful. It also offers a unique insight by Charles Schulz and Lee Mandelson into the creation of individual Peanuts characters, as well as the beloved TV specials and movies. Included are the stories of the creation of the signature Peanuts theme, "Linus and Lucy" and a step-by-step, behind-the-scenes look at how the the specials and movies are created from storyboard to finished product. Though not extraordinarily in depth, Happy Birthday, Charlie Brown is sure to be of interest to any curious Peanuts fan.
This is a delightful combination of favorite comic strips and behind-the-scenes information about the Peanuts comics, TV specials, and movies. I enjoyed this tremendously, and greatly appreciate some friends getting this for me at a library book sale.
