Hero grew up poor and unwanted because his father rejected him whereas his stepbrother Dante had all the privileges. Now rich and powerful he seeks revenge. Our heroine Zoe is the weapon Lazaro intends to use for his revenge. Zoe is Daisy’s sister who is married to Dante. He kidnaps her and takes her to his house. But Zoe falls hard for her captor. She is a good sweet person and her goodness makes Lazaro a better man. He realizes revenge is pointless and forgiveness is everything. Eventually the ...more

This is the 2nd book in Jane Porter’s The Galvan Brides series. Each book is the story of the late aristocrat Count Tino Galvan, a man known for his fabulous looks and wealth. He was married twice and indulged in loads of affairs which resulted in a number of legitimate and illegitimate children.

Lazaro Herrera is the illegitimate son born from an affair the Count had with Sabana Herrera, a young maid in the service of the Galvan family home and had been cruelly thrown out into the streets with a

I wanted to love it because of the novel plot but found the writing very surreal...insta love and story seemed disjointed to me. The kidnapping being orchestrated by Dante didn't make sense and then the necessity of marriage didn't ring true. The hero's actions at the end were extreme and treacly and didn't made sense (most of what he had he'd built on his own, not from his father's family). Something just felt off in the plot/execution, although I usually like Jane Porter and she is an excellen ...more
Not sure how I feel about this book. It felt incomplete. I liked the characters and kinda enjoyed the story, but it left me feeling...blah. I ga e it 3 stars for the bits that I liked, but this isn't a book that I will read again.

Book 2 in the Argentinean Series, and it is just a great as the first one! I felt like I already knew some of the characters and what they were going through. Lazaro was a very complex man and Jane Porter did a nice job of pealing off the layers for us, so that we had a better understanding of what was driving him. Zoe, was much stronger that I thought she would be and that was a pleasant surprise.

I found this to be a very exciting book with lots of twists and turns. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Lazaro bent on revenge all his life against his half brother Dante will stop at nothing to make his point. Zoe changes his life and makes him a better more caring person. This is one of those romance books that anyone will love.

This was just too dark and sad at the end. It was excellently written. The hero really is remorseful in his hunt for revenge. Revenge not a theme i care for or it would been much higher.

Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.

As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endi
