Well, it to me 9 months to read this so I guess that says something.

But there was no need to hurry, as it is just a collection of jokes from the 1940's and before. It certainly does show how what we think is funny has changed in so many ways, but some still are funny today, but I would say surprisingly few. Most of them you couldn't even use today, funny or not, as the political correctness of today would not allow it, and that's probably a good thing.

An interesting time capsule, maybe but not a lot else.

I've always enjoyed reading the humor from Reader's Digest. It's probably best in small doses though, as it comes in the magazine. Some of these were so funny I had to go share them with my husband. Most were just mildly funny though. And a surprising number of them reflected very different views of women not only from what I am used to now but from when I was younger also - we've changed a lot over the decades since this was compiled.

A book that I took from my grandfather's bookshelf. Funny instances, articles and anecdotes. A perfect read for that boring day at work.
