This book provides a lively and thoughtful introduction to ecological anthropology by examining the evolving relations between human communities and nature.
Very general information, so not informative for someone who knows anything about human impacts on the world. Moran also does not hide that he believes the problem is that people (Americans) are lazy and obese. Off-putting and quite uninformative.
It really is just an introduction. If you read environmental news every once in a while you will probably find this book utterly repetitive (unless you enjoy reading overly emphasised statements e.g. "Business-as-usual is no longer a viable option if we are to avoid economic and environmental ruin" phrased slightly differently three times in the same chapter) and outdated (it was first published in 2006 - a lot has altered since then).
The writer is one of those rather superficial people who see America and affluent people as the ultimate enemy to the wellbeing of the ecosystem.
Overall, it is a nice introduction to environmental anthropology but provides nothing more of value.
