Another story. Another separation and need of rescuing for our heroine. It got very slow in some places but overall, it is another addition to a fun series. I just hope my two lovers finally get to have a bit of time together.
Another exciting book just not my favourite of the series so far. Man, Karina really can’t get a break. She has just made probably the easiest but extremely hard decision of going with her Ryker and becoming his prisoner in order to save Holly’s life. When her and Ryker arrive at his house she’s surprised that she actually gets a room instead of going into the dungeon but it’s still a beautiful cage and things get worse when she can’t feel her powers including shifting and finds out that the house is warded so you can’t use magic, she’s completely out of her element and missing her Shaman and love Devyn and she knows in her heart that Devyn will eventually come to get her as he’d go to the ends of the earth to get her back safely by his side so he can protect her as he was born to do. Meanwhile back in Ashland Devyn completely loses it and k*lls all of Ryker’s Sentinels who came to Ashland to capture Karina as they’re in the way for him to go and rescue Karina, it’s not like they didn’t deserve it. His brother Kai tries to get Devyn to see reason and then Kai tells him that he’ll go to Karina as he can transport to her instantly in which Devyn very reluctantly agrees.
Karina knows that she can’t trust anyone especially when she sees Reilly as he just wants to marry her which he says that it will offer her protection but really I think he just wants the power that comes along with ruling Second Moon. Kai shows up and she’s very happy, he’s not Devyn but at least he’s a friendly face and knows that she can trust him to some extent, that is until he tells her uncle that they’re claimed and that they’ll eventually enter into the commitment of the marriage bond which is an unbreakable bond, but he takes it a step too far when he morphs into Devyn using his powers and tricks her into kissing him like she’d kiss Devyn and tries to get her to see that they’d work together and that she can marry Devyn since Kai is of Royal Blood but Karina is extremely angry at him and tells him that even if he has Devyn’s looks and voice he’ll never be Devyn. Ryker and his wife Issem were trying to force her and her cousin Bash to complete the commitment marriage bond as he knew that Kai was lying when he said that he was in love with Karina. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book now that Devyn and Karina are back together. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Karina has reluctantly been taken to her Uncle Ryker’s summer palace, but it’s really prison. He says he wants to help her grow her power and help her become queen, but she knows he wants to be the power behind the throne. She’s waiting for Devyn to find and rescue her, but instead Kai shows up.
Fave scenes: asking about the storage room, Belle following Devyn and Karina’s reaction to Ryker’s announcement.
This book definitely wasn't as good as some of the others, but the last 30 pages made this book worth reading. There was some parts that were kind of cliche with the claiming and made me think more wolf than kitsune, but I'm interested enough I want to keep going with this series.
I loved this series so much I read it in a week it started off simple and intriguing and became downright complex with twists and turns I love Devyn and Karina. i’m nervous where this whole kai this going?! Can’t wait for the next book
I love how there are still more secrets unraveling and more drama to read. And Kai isn’t to bad by the end of the book, villian brother turned good? We shall see. It takes a good author to change our perspective of a character mid book.
Karina finds herself a captive in her uncle's castle surrounded by guards, family, and a few unexpected familiar faces unsure of just who she can trust. If anyone. She has no access to her magic, so she must rely on her human strength and her bond with her Kitsune hoping that Devyn will find her. She doesn't want to be rescued like a damsel in distress, she wants to rescue herself but she misses her shaman dreadfully. Devyn is frantic over losing Karina and can no longer deny his feelings for her. He is determined to get her back or burn the world down trying.
This was not my favorite book of the series so far. That was to be expected with the separation of Karina and Devyn but even beyond that, the story was slow. Not a lot happened. It was more of a holding pattern. Karina likely earned another tail but it wasn't confirmed. The character development was indecisive. I understand that Karina is out of her depth but I would like to see some solid indication of who the characters really are. Is Ryker truly following Council orders or does he plan to use Karina and take her power? Is Kai truly invested (even a little) in Karina or is he only out for himself? Is Bash only interested in the science of Karina's magic or he he following his political mother's directions? What about Reilly? What happened with Isleen and the blood? It's time we start learning who these people are. If there are no decent fae, it's a hard sell to figure out why Karina should even care about saving their land beyond her mother's health. And it's more than obvious that they need her help. So why not stop trying to imprison and kill her! But mostly, I missed Karina and Devyn. The book moved at a breakneck speed at the very end but still it wasn't satisfying. I need for Karina and Devyn to get a win. To have more than a few stolen moments together followed by Devyn's regrets. I need for Karina's Kitsuni to get her final tail and for Karina to become powerful enough to save the land and make a stand. I want Kai and Holly to stand beside Devyn as family, for Reilly to be a firm friend, and Bash to do what is right even if it means opposing his parents. And I need more Belle!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book. 4 & 1/2 stars rounded up. Overall, I enjoyed the book, the flow was a bit slow at times & I thought that Karina was never going to escape her situation. The parts of the story with her dwelling on her hopelessness & missing Devyn were the parts that were slow. I didn't enjoy those parts. I felt like the ending was a bit deceiving, since I think her kitsune got another tail (Karina even suspects she got another tail), but it wasn't confirmed, um, what? I need to know that it happened! And then there's Devyn, I can't make heads or tails of him, with his bad@ss superior fighting, moodiness & attitude, protectiveness & love (for Karina), he gives me whiplash at times. So I don't know if I like him or not, depends what part of the story I'm reading when you ask me I guess. I look forward to the next story, to see where this goes!
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** This book picks up right where the last one ended. I am obsessed with this series. I really want to see Karina and Devyn have their happily ever after, but this series makes me question if that will ever be possible. At points I am left guessing and then other times seem clear cut. But not is all that it seems. This world J.L Weil has created keeps me on my toes. It seems like every book, there are new characters and breeds to introduce. I love Bell aka Tink. I still want to call her Tink. Even though Devyn has known to not trust pixies as they can be deceiving, Karina puts her trust into Bell and seems to really like her. Time will only tell if Bell is truly there for the correct intentions. If you have not read this series yet, I highly recommend you start reading it now! Looking forward to the next book in the Nine Tails Series!
I have been patiently/impatiently waiting for this next book in the Nine Tails Series. I am completely in love with Karina and Devyn and cannot wait to see what happens next to them. Karina has gone through so much since her introduction to her true heritage and future. I love how fierce she is and how much she will go through and fight for those she loves. As always, the story is captivating and leaves you wanting more after its conclusion and I now get to begin the patient/impatient wait for the next book.
Karina is fighting to stay alive and to keep Devyn out of harms way! Kai seems to have plans of his own but what does he really have up his sleeve? And is Ryker really out to kill Karina for her powers and become the next ruler of Katsura? I don't know what to believe at this point! I just get to thinking that it's going one way and then the author throws me for a loop and it's not what it seems! UGH! Too many twists and turns! But that's how the author does it! I still love the Nine Tails series so far and can't wait for the next book to come out!
Another terrific tail by Weil! I just wish it was longer. The action in this book was awesome. I felt myself grabbing the arms of my chair until my knuckles were white. The bad guys in this book were exceptionally horrible! Especially Isleen. I could feel the evil leaking from her. I can't wait to see what she'll do next and how Karina will kick her butt!
I was excited to see Karina on her own for once and it was cool to watch her character build and to learn a little bit more about this world! With the episodic nature of the books I do feel like you miss things that could be further explored like the history of this world she finds herself in.
The new skills we learn in this one is cool too karina can do some amazing things! And it's great to see more into Devins head too, we see more about what he can do.
What an amazing book! A great continuation of the series!
This book had me totally enthralled from the get go. Fast pace, with plenty of action, turmoil, adventure and definitely know how to grab your emotions! The characters and story line continue to gain more depth and grow. A definite must read! I can't wait for the next book!
Totally love this spine tingling, adventurous guessing game of a series. Karina and Devyns story is a well thought out refreshing and exciting story that just keeps your on your toes as to what will happen next. Theirs is hard fought road written in vivid detail that I can hope will lead to their happily ever after.
Karina is a prisoner of her Uncle Ryker in a gilded cage with no access to her magic. Devyn is three weeks horse back ride away. With suitors surrounding her and her Uncle at her back, she has little choice but to go with the flow until the opportunity to escape presented itself.
I loved reading this series!!! I can't wait for the next one to come out. I was on my seat the whole time flipping each page sanding what was gonna happen next. I highly recommend reading series if haven't giving a try yet!!
Another story. Another seperation and need of rescuing for our heroine. It got very slow in some places but overall it is another addition to a fun trilogy. I just hope my two lovers finally get to have a bit of time together.
