In this magical realm, illusions and inventions astonish her eye, but beneath the splendor she finds a wasteland controlled by self-serving elite. When her magic ability awakens, revealing her unique lineage, a renown seer proclaims Belrina is the key to the empire’s salvation—if she can first protect herself from its foremost senator, who ruthlessly seeks to bend all to his will. To oppose this ancient titan, and his threats to both elven and human civilizations, Belrina will need to discover and then unleash all her powers. An interesting beginning of a fantasy series!

We have Belrina, a healer, one of the Forest People. Her mother was also a healer and taught Belrina everything she knows. Sadly, her mother died two years ago and Belrina has been on her own since then. On this particular day, someone knocks on Belrina’s door requesting her help. What she finds is an elf, with a broken leg and a very high fever. This is a very enjoyable fantasy with twists and turns that I cannot wait to find out where they lead. The plot is interesting, and the story is well written.
