Memory Guild #10

An Angel's Touch

Rate this book
Even goddesses can’t catch a break.

Ever since the Goddess awoke in me, she’s been a pain in the butt. The powers she gave me came with too many responsibilities. And now I face the greatest challenge of all: repairing the rift in the Veil that allows monsters of legend to pass through into our world and wreak havoc.

And boy, how they keep coming.

Everyone has been on my case about fixing the Veil. By everyone, I mean the few humans who know about the rift and worry about being eaten by the monsters. And the angels who watch over the world. They can’t heal the Veil themselves, nor can they stop a growing conspiracy to create more fallen angels.

How much will I need to sacrifice to accomplish this task? What happens if I fail? Will I get fired?

And how am I supposed to find time to run my inn and serve the Memory Guild? Even goddesses can’t multitask as much as that.

I have a feeling that things will never be the same. And neither will I.

The forces of Heaven and Hell collide in the final book of the Memory Guild series. (The sequel series, “Memory Guild’s Daughter,” is coming soon!)

Get enchanted by an alluring world of magic, murder, mystery, and mischief.

Darla is being "visited" more and more often. She as Danu, a Goddess of Mother Earth, must repair the tear in the veil. If she doesn't figure out how to repair the tear, San Marcos is going to be overrun by demons and other creatures of Hell. Sophie is dating a God of War and there is talk of getting married.
Does Darla/Goddess Danu manage to repair the tear in the veil to the underworld? Does Sophie get married? Why is Detective Samson missing in most of the book.Read the book to find out.
Mr Parker managed to weave a great story with Darla as the Goddess Danu and Sophie's powers as a witch, all they while keeping them as Darla, Cory's wife and Sophie, Darla's daughter. While they manage to run the Inn while in their human form.

I volunteered a honest review because I received an ARC copy of this book.

From a little Majick, right into being teleported to another place to do an Angel's Work!
This was an amazing finale to a really great storyline! Darla being the incarnation of Danu too, goes from being a married Innkeeper working to keep up with her duties there, to being 'gone' in an instant to where ever The Goddess is needed at THAT Moment! Her body stays where it is, but she is 'not at home' as the saying goes. Then she pops back in a moment, but has the fun part of trying to explain why she poured a person a whole bottle of expensive wine over her glass! Never a dull moment!
Thank you, Ward Parker for another great story, and wonderful finale to this series, can't wait to get started on the next one!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

(I received this copy for the ARC group, so I got to read it early. Eat your hearts out.)

Darla has had an "assignment" for a while, to repair the Veil leading to Hell. She realized early on several things: first, she needed help understanding what needed to be done; second, she needed to gain power as her incarnation of Danu before she had the strength to complete the task.

Meanwhile, until the Veil is repaired, supernatural beings will keep coming from Hell and attacking San Marcos, Florida.

Darla has to keep running the Esperanza Inn, fight the supernatural beings, and repair the Veil, all with the help of her family and friends, and all in a short timeframe.

Reads like the idea for a novel

The previous books in this series were much better written. This one does a lot of "telling" and the characters feel far too shallow. Like it was released at its concept or first draft stage. I didn't finish it because it kept going on... after it seemed over.
Too much telling me what happened next, literally, like "and then, this happened" and the next chapter is the story of "this".
Some heavy editing and rewrites are needed.
I'll not be returning to the series, this was pretty disappointing. I hate leaving negative reviews, but this was kind of a fun story. So disappointing to see the writing get in the way.

I love these books by Ward Parker. I am sad to see that this was the very last Memory Guild book, but happy to know there is a new series coming with Sophie as the main character. These books have been so fun to read. I think Ward Parker has such a great imagination to be able to put all these stories together. He is a true artist.

What’s next?

Instead of a natural conclusion to the series, the ending of this book seems like a smooth transition to more stories. I’ll have to check on that. This series was a good separation from what I normally read, and I enjoyed it very much. It was like I devoured each book!

supernatural adventure!

This is a most enjoyable read! More challenges for Darla/Danu and her family and friends. I look forward to the next in the series!
